From Chester county here. Now that Spring is here, I wouldn't mind getting together with locals and slacklining. Maybe a few of us could get together in a park and have a barbecue and slackline event one weekend.

What day would be best for those who are interested? It's the end of March now, I would think giving a month for those to stumble upon this thread and time to organize would be good. Just to throw out a date to get organization started, would anyone have a conflict with May 6th? It's not set in stone, and the earlier we hear that it isn't convenient, the easier we can change it.

Also, we would need to pick out a park, I had considered Valley Forge, but I'm not sure that they have grills. I can't remember ever seeing one there. So, I thought Ridley Creek
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/...rks/ridleycreek.aspx
wouldn't be too inconvenient for most, it's not far from West Chester, and not too far from Philly. This isn't decided either, we can change it to suite participants needs. If you have any objections or suggestions, leave them here on this thread.

EDIT: changed date

If you don't mind a total noob tagging along, I'd love to give slacklining a try and would totally be up for some bbq-ing.

So as of now, it will be on May 6th. I will be arriving around 3pm, We'll actually start around 4pm. I too have a 50' we can setup. We should probably have a few setup, varying in length, height, tension. If you have a line, bring it, we may or may not use it.

If you have friends or family that would like to come along, by all means, bring them. My girlfriend and some of her friends will be coming (I didn't really invite them, but they're fun.) so there will be other women to associate with if that's a selling point to get the wife/significant other to join us.

I will make a reservation for a pavilion (if they are still available) and get the exact location to you guys as soon as I find out. I'll map it out if I can too.

I don't mind bringing the charcoal, burgers, buns, dogs, rolls, condiments. If we could work out that everyone could bring a little bit of something, that would be helpful.

We could use:
Drinks (non alcoholic)
Plates, cups and utensils
Sausage, or macaroni salad or other foods
Anything else you might feel like bringing.

If you are able to bring something, please PM me or post it here so we are organized. If you are unable to bring something, no worries.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, post them here :]

I went to the park yesterday and checked out the different areas we can meet at. Several of the picinic areas were closed :[ One of them looked like a real good spot too ( #3). So out of the 11 or so that were open, I narrowed it down to two areas that would suit our needs. I've chosen what I believe to be the better of the two for getting together.

We will be meeting at Ridley Creek, picinic area #17 on May 6th around 4pm. There are signs that will lead you to the picinic areas pretty easily, though the area's themselves aren't numbered too visibly. I will make up an in-park map to the picinic area, and driving directions to the park from various areas. I'll post these up in this forum sometime this week.

If you are bringing your slackline, could you please bring tree-friendlies as well. I have enough material for probably two slackline's worth. I just don't want to wreck any trees/slacklines.

If you need to get ahold of me, you can PM me or email me with my forum name at gmail.com.

Awesome. It seems like there will be a good turnout. I really hope the weather cooperates. I will look into putting together a in-park map leading to the picnic area. I'll map up the alternative picnic area just in case something doesn't work out. I'm looking forward to this :]

I have been keeping an eye on the weather for Saturday, and it's officially not looking good. Channel 6 predicted this morning a chance of thunderstorms.

Saturday
Mostly Cloudy HIGH: 69
LOW : 48

It doesn't mention thunderstorms on their website though. So we may want to come up with a rain date, Weather.com's forcast says that it WILL rain.

A 40% chance of rain means that it will rain over 40% of their forcast area, and you may or may not be in that area. So It's kinda chancy to keep the BBQ planned for this Saturday. Does anyone have any suggestions on a rain date? Any weekend would work for me for the rest of May. Please reply with any suggestions.

If you haven't already done so, check the "Notify me when a reply is posted" box when you reply, so you can keep up to date.

Sounds like a 60% chance for sunshine and those are pretty good odds! Sunday would also work for me if it does end up raining.
I'll be praying to the weather gods so I think we'll be all right!

Aarrgh, my last post was lost to the forum monster. :[

To sum it up it said:

In case Saturday's weather is uncooperative, Sunday May 7th will be our plan B. Same slack time, same slack channel. Weather.com has lowered the precip chance to 30% and changed from thunder storms to AM showers. So this mean's that it's possible that come 3-4PM, it'll be nice out.

I will be bringing the essentials for a BBQ, dogs, burgers, rolls and buns, utensils, cups etc... If you have an idea on something you'd like to bring, please share on the forum so we don't end up with 30 lbs of tater salad.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah, looks like the weather might co-operate. Have some friends bringing a desert and/or side. I'll bring some 2-litres and H2O.

I'll bring a case of dew and some chips and salsa. I will also bring my line. If anyone needs a ride from the east falls area let me know.
