I thought since there is a thread about the Washington Gathering in regional, I thought we should have had one in Events & Gatherings... Russman said "post one" so I am. I thought this would be a good place to start a roll call and get a good handle on who is coming and how long they plan on attending, but most of all a way for us to connect up and get some carpooling done. Very important to me, as I have no wheels! But I have a few offers and options open to me. I will start the roll call. I will be there, I hope to make a four day weekend of it (but we'll see). I have not been in the greatest headspace for leading for a long time, I hope to get past that. I am bringing some trad gear! Jeff

Russman, I will be a bringin' a slackline! But you guys ain't got no dang ol'trees over there, and I ain't got one that'll reach 'atween to telee fone poles. Whatcha got ta put it up on? Jus how close is the neighbors trailer anyhoo hehe (practicn' up so's your neighbors won't know I been a livin' in the big city) Seriously though how long does it need to be, and where we gonna put it up? I have to go get a new one anyway, I sold mine to those Seattle boys at Smith (just left it up for 'em and walked away, I actually lost a little on it but I had gotten part of my moneys worth out of it anyway). And yes I will be bringing some trad gear and Mick/rollingstone he's cool with basalt trad, and I ain't afraid of it so you will be climbing trad!!! Monday sounds like a plan, now who to ride home with... Jeff

I will be there Friday night at least through Sunday, maybe Monday. I will have all my camping gear so can stay at Russ' place or at the rock if your place gets too crowded. My head hasn't been in the trad game too much lately either, but I will be bringing my gear too. Rocks4jules, who you bringing with you? I believe that Micah (offwidthclimber) will be coming as well.

Unfortunately have to come back Sunday p.m. I have a 60M rope, and a few pieces of pro and no lead experience as of yet. Hey we all gotta learn sometime Hopefully, can pick up a few pointer's. Well actually I do allready know how to drink beer Yell if anyone in the Seattle area wants to carpool in that time frame? Cheers lee

Let me extend my open backyard...as far as camping at teh rocks...that is litterally what you will be sleeping on, and sagebrush. Some ash (Mt St. Helens type) and there will proabaly be plenty of wind blowing off the river and up the canyon (dust will proably ensue). That is not personal knowledge, I have never spent the night down there. That only comes from knowing the area and spending many other nights out under the stars here in the Basin. As stated before, there is only one Port-o-Let in the whole area and from the camping area...kinda a little hike to get to it. Just providing more info about the area around the rocks. The Russman BTW...if you look at this pic and this pic and this pic you will get a little feel for what the area looks like. This was taken in the spring and not great outlying area shots...but still some pix.

Just to get this back on track and bring it up top... I have started working out really hard, so I have the strength for this. I am hoping to maybe bring Krustykutie with me, we'll see how she's feeling and how the weather is going to be, she is not the healthy rockclimber type but she is tough! I am getting so impatient I may have to come over once before the gig! Jeff

works for me man...just let me know. Sundays are the best for me and Bobbi....but if you want to try to work into my scheduled days off...we can try that too. I was wondrin in The Kutie was going to participate with us...that would be cool too. She doesn't have to be a major climber type...That will more than likley be Bobbi's first time on real rock with a rope (bouldering at Smith not counted) Let me know man. Love to get out sooner. I am planning on coming over Friday night, and should leave Sunday evening to get back to Seattle so I can, (sigh ) teach the next morning. I am inclined to rack out in back yard, or if I remember correctly, Russ said his garage had space...

If you must know, I'm not big on slumber parties and I would really rather camp in what's intended for camping. Back yards aren't exactly camping to me and no doubt it would be loud, anyway. Call me boring, but I've just outgrown loud and crazy evenings and slumber parties. I want to be able to escape to my tent (which is not 2 inches from other ones) when I want to. 10 years ago, I'd have loved to pitch a tent in someone's back yard with 20 other people. No offense to anyone, I'm just not in that frame of mind anymore.

Yes, there is space in the garage...like I said about that....all concrete floor...I have a crash pad to pile on...but without any more..might be kinda hard As far as slumber parties goes...Yea, I guess that is what it will turn out being...But I am going to think that even if we all decided to camp down there (Yes proaably colder) it would be the same way. No biggy...not hurting my feelings...just seemed different Cat...Camping is one thing and Climbing is another

Hey, Count me in, probably fri night to sun night. I've got classes that I can't skip on Monday. I'll probably be bringing between 2 and 5 people along, mostly beginers, but possibly a 5.10-5.12 or two. I'm doing my best to keep it low key because nobody I've talked to has ever climbed before, but if you want me to put out an open invitation to some collegiate drinkers, I know quite a few who really want to give it a shot. N8 P.S. Thanks Russman and Russmanswife for the climbing outing today, I had a great time and it looks like I've got a couple of future climbers on my hands.

Count my girl and I in from Friday night to Sunday. Thinking about pitching the old tent in the backyard if I'm early enough to get a spot, otherwise I'll plan on spending another night at the coulee. I've climbed there bunches of times since 1994, when there was hardly anyone around. Looking forward to getting to know so climbers and also maybe take some video so that some of the other RC.commers can see what us WA folks are all about. Hope that okay

This sounds like it is going to be quite the gig! Since last posting and saying Marmot and I would be there...life has happened. We have been living in Tacoma while Marmot works in Seattle. Well things finally fell into place and we found a good place in Seattle to move too. (Only two miles to Vertcal World!) Anyway we are up to our noses in this moving thing. We have to be out of where we are and into the new place by the 31st of October. So we had to change the days off that we planned before or after the climbing gig to moving days. Leaving only the saturday and sunday as possible days to show up and climb. It will all depend on how well things are going and if we can take that weekend away from home at all. We still want to make this work...but there is a good chance we will have to bow out since it is the last weekend we have before we move. Anyway...that's the story. Happy Climbing!

well, darnit all anyway! Put Marmot and Otter down as 0 for 2 on your score cards. Too much stuff is going on with this move for us to be able to make the gig. We've got a bunch of stuff that needs to go to be stored with family, and guess the only weekend we can make the trip to do it? Yepper, the weekend of the gig! Have fun everyone. Sorry to miss another one

Well, my frineds. The time is getting closer, we have had a few ppl have to bail. But I still plan on a nice GiG for our climibng event. Let me warn everyone now....it has been getting into the high 30's at night latley and averaging aroudn 60 in the days. I will keep everyone up-to-date on the weather as we near the date. I did gain access to a HUGE BBQ for Sat night. All we got to do is fill it with propane and run it thru the car wash when we are done. That will be a nice edition. For those who may not like the cold. I do have a wood fireplace in my garage...but as stated before, all concrete floor and I have oly one crashpad...we we can use that as a mock house with heat too Bobbi, Hunter and I are lookign forward to seeing/meeting you all and showing you around our backyard (literally and at the Coulee ) Jared don't forget the cigs....I got lots of fresh elk stakes The Russman

Is there a place to hang my Krustyledge from the rafters in the garage? If so I have picked my spot, up high where the heat is! I love to sleep on my ledge any chance I get. If this week goes well I may have some more "game" to put on the cooker! Jeff I recieved a PM today fron a young lady who says she wants in... I told her she is welcome to join in, and she'll be bringing a freind... She calls herself Annathe1st, and said she was not able to post in the thread. As someone "official" maybe you could follow up on her Russman???

OK everyone sorry for all these questions, but, Where and around what time is everyone hooking up to climb on Saturday? Never climbed there before, are they all trad or some bolted runs, as I am a bit light on the rack? Do we need some sort of parking permit? Does anyone need a ride from seattle? Russman, I can bring some chairs- what else is needed? Do I sound like I am totally lost or just a total moron.

I suggested to have them start early climbing down there...will be cold for a few hours...but by 10-11...EVERYONE comes out of the woodwork. You will should get a pass...they are a state pass and you can get them where ever you can buy a hunting license. chairs...BEER...and soem food. We have a grocery close and I got lots of wood for the fire... Both sport and trad...most us use are sprot climbers...but there will be some trad also. I think I answered. PM with any more ?s

That was good too! However, I think we're going to have a full weekend of "kids." Getting ready tonight. Coreyr and I are leaving tomorrow afternoon. Yeah!!! Can't wait for this gig! See you all soon. Jules

My woman and I will be there midday (probably around 1-2pm) on Saturday. Looking forward to pulling some stone and taking some video for all to see.

Yahoooo, packed and ready to get some climbing in. Rollingstone and myself are heading over early and he thinks we should arrive round 10 or so. Neither one of us have a decent guidebook. However, the one I do have seems like we would start out at the feathers???? Hhaha we might end up on something like 5.13y or something like that and not even know it.
