This is the first forum board I've read and I'm already put off.

I was just curious and in need of something to respond to.

Anyway, your a bit off-base calling me Rush unless he recently decided to support Libertarian views. I'll take shot in the dark and say that you assumed (big suprise) that I am anti-feminist. In all reality, me reclassifying his feminist comments as referring to "feminazis" simply says that I believe he was describing the extremists of the group, rather than those women who have an earnest interest in greater equality between genders. I followed with a stab at that demographic because I don't really like them, unlike feminists who I have no problem with.

I'll take one more moment to address your AM radio comment, but I'll not waste anymore time after. I wouldn't be caught dead listening to any of that political shit, because as you said its bullshit propaganda. Furthermore I'm not numb enough to care what either the conservatives or the liberals have to say or believe in. I support libertarian views because they are the closest thing to what I believe. I just happen to believe in true liberty and that appears to be more than you can say for yourself.

Last night I had a bit of an epiphany. I realized that in my replies, I am too quick to lash out at others, belittle them, and be insulting. Because of my inflammatory comments, people have even insinuated that I’m trolling.

Let me assure you, that is not the case. When I started this thread I just wanted to have an open and honest discussion about the motivations of female climbers. Unfortunately, I broke my own rule and did not keep the discussion civil.

I realized last night that I need to be more understanding. I should have known that my post would stir the emotions of some. Perhaps they’re threatened by the accuracy of my observations, perhaps they’re insecure in their own femininity, or perhaps they have cognitive limitations or emotional difficulties that I know nothing about.

I take full responsibility for my own negative attitude and actions. I admit that I get snappy and lash out when faced with ignorance, idiocy, cluelessness, and moronity. That’s a problem I have, and I need to be more careful about it in the future.

Regardless of the reason for my rude replies, I know that I need to be more sensitive to others’ situations and points of view from now on. I’ll keep my attitude in check.

Again, I’m sorry. Let this discussion continue. But this time, please, let’s keep it civil.

You know nothing about me, Frogger. What if I told you I am a liberal-leaning social worker who spent a year in VISTA service, where I was a full-time volunteer who helped homeless and mentally ill senior citizens living on skid row. Could you accept that? Probably not.

I am not surprised at all. You are a sexist and a homophibic even if you are a social worker and have volunteered for a year. I know at least one guy who works in the medical field that volunteers in medical missions to Africa at least once a year, but says that poor people should die of hunger because that is part of natural selection. It seems that there are at least two people of your leaning that wear volunteering on their sleeve. Whatever makes you sleep better at night...

You want insight? I've got some. Climbers are crazy, suicidal folk with no respect for their own lives. No doubt they will end up in the same circle of hell as those who attempted suicide but did not succeed. You climbers need to stop insanely risking your life and take up a more tame, civilized passtime, like golf or bowling. This applies equally to males and females.

You can't just turn civility on and off when you think it best works. You said to keep it on, then turned it off, now you can't just force others to become civil again. I read your apology and everything, so kudos to you for that (even though I don't think an apology was really necessary or required), but just because you apologize doesn't mean everyone will return to being less barbaric now.
