Wideguy, again, I want to stress that this whole Patriots thing is not about the freakin Jets game, it's about that they've been doing it for a while! They have a lot great players in a system that works. And they would probably kickass without the cheating, but if they are cheating...well then don't we have something to be upset about? If they win the Superbowl this year (and I'm afraid they might) then it will be tarnished for everybody besides loyal Patriots fans regardless of if they are or have cheated.

My new theory, the Pats are like the Bush admin. They are stubborn, steadfast, don't like to talk to the media, do things their way despite what others say, and their fans are blissfully blinded by their patriotism. Only difference, the Pats have actually had success over the last decade.

Here's my two bits. Goodell was handcuffed by precedent and the penalty handed down was the stiffist ever. Several coaches have stated that they would be writing letters to the League asking for their rationale in handing down the penalty that they came up with and asking for a more complete inquiry. Cheating to any degree is a bit like getting the scarlet letter. Will anyone ever look at what Barry Bonds did without some degree of skepticism? At least in terms of public opinion, an asterisk already sits next to two or more Super Bowl championships (which is why I don't think "most teams do it" becuase the public opinion implications of cheating are so severe). I think there will be more to follow on this.

Back to Reggie Bush. WTF??? The Colts game was one thing. But the f'in Bucs????!!!

Not surprised. Reggie won't be able to do what he did in college (unfortunately cause that was fun to watch even for a Bruins fan). The NFL is just too fast.

The Broncos are 2-0 but they barely escaped those games. I'd be surprised if they make the playoffs.

And nobody has mentioned the Lions and the Texans. They both have very quietly gone to 2-0. It won't hold up, but it's a nice start.

The one thing the Broncos have going for them is an easy schedule ... Raiders twice, Chiefs twice, and they finished third in the division last year so they get easier non-divisional AFC teams (like the Bills).

You know who else is 2-0?

49er's!! hahahaha!!!

Of course, they have less than 400 yards of total offense after two games, so I'm not looking for the streak to continue!

Thus far, I have to say that 2 weeks of NFL football have revealed nothing as far as post season candidates go, except for the Pats of course. They are well on their way to getting a shot at winning the Super Bowl. Which I think would be a great thing for the franchise, winning it's first Super Bowl and all. I mean, Brady's been in it for six years now and probably deserves at least one ring, cause truth be told, he is a decent quarterback.

Not as surprised there. I think Alex Smith will have his best year yet.

The Packers are also 2-0! Go Pack!

Well we have a brand new defensive coordinator and a mostly revamped defensive line.
Bly got burned twice by Cowan though.

No, the rumor was not that they were "stealing radio airwaves" which would be ludicrous, because communication from the sideline to the booths for all teams is wired, not wireless. The report was that they had defensive players mic'd so that they could steal audibles. These claims will be easily proven or disproven because the only wireless in use is the offensive coach to QB systems on both sides and the stadiums are monitored for outside frequencies. So far no proof other than "Unnamed source say the Jets MIGHT pursue..." on those allegations. And as for headsets, that's baloney. Again, if one team's goes out, both teams must stop using them. And interviews with Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms and several other ex-QB's they have said that the helmet coms were notoriously unreliable in every stadium, in every team.

Yes, there are allegations of this not being the first time. But no proof. There are also numerous "Unamed sources" who say that they know the Patriots weren't the only ones doing it. Herm Edwards said it openly, he knew teams, not just the Pats, did it. Green Bay said they didn't press last year's issue, because they knew the Patriots weren't the only ones, and they didn't think it was a big deal. Now, reportedly most people do it from a press box and aren't quite as blatent or arrogant about it, that's true. And it's just as illegal no matter how many are doing it. But the Patrots detractors are conveniently ignoring the numerous reports that this was part of the culture, the pats were just the ones who got caught. And if you pay attention to that, consider all the evidence, then it's impossible to know how many other teams may have used the same tactics against the Pats. If everyone was doing it, how is one team more wrong than another?

And you have, for example, a couple pissed off Philly players claiming it cost them the Superbowl. No coaches, mind you, just players. Ignoring completely the fact that the teams were tied through three quarters, that McNabb was picked off three times, Sacked 5 and ended up puking on his shoes They failed to recover an onside kick, game the Pats, great field position, forced the Pats three and out and then got pinned at their own 4 on a punt. None of that had anything to do with the Eagles defense. Their defense, in fact, forced the Pats three and out on two key fourth quarter drives.

Sure, I'm a Patriots fan, and I'm pretty pissed off because this whole thing is just tarnishing a great reputation for no reason. For years people, Like Philly, Like San Diego, have been claiming that the Patriots "Weren't that good" that "we beat ourselves, they didn't beat us" and "they got a couple lucky plays" and now all of the sudden it's "Now we know why they were so DOMINANT" Well which is it, were they dominant or were you just inept?
The New York Post runs a story front page that says "Who know what would have happened Sunday if the Patriots weren't cheating" then two days later, when it's revealed t wasn't a factor, everyone switches to the "Well, we're not concerned about THIS game..." Convenient arguments based on the mood of the moment, ignoring fact.

And IF they win this year, it will be the first step in re-proving their remarkable team. Because any dolt with half a wit will know there is no WAY they will be getting away with anything this year. They will play this whole year under a microscope, a microphone and a set of FBI frequency scanners. And hopefully people will be honest in assessing that. But i doubt it. We have two dominant performances, both admitted by the league to be legitimate, yet the detractors still insist that somehow the actions of yesteryear gave them some advantage.

Redskins kicked some Philly ass. McNabb seemed rusty, and the 'Skins defense are LOTS better than last year.

To that end, I give you....

I couldn't watch the game but when i saw the score at 10-6 halfway through the 3rd I had to wonder if it was an epic defensive struggle or two inept offenses.

and all due respect to the skins, I might have to give Philly the edge.

why do the goddamn league settings keep changing every day? This is the third time I've had to put in this week's waiver claims because they get deleted every time arrettinator fucks with the waiver period. and who ever heard of a fantasy league where the settings change post-draft?

Yeah, Mcnair on the bench didn't help. Every year I play a fantasy league I have one of those weeks. Last year in my work league I played 4 guys who had bye's in one week. Whoops 75 points out of a secondary QB didn't help either. Where the fuck did that come from.

I don't understand the waiver period either. I believe it's tied to standings, something about inverse order, so presumably the worse your record, the higher in the waiver order you will be?

The initial waiver order is the inverse of the draft order, after that, everytime you pick up a player on waivers, you get dropped to the bottom of the order.

How the fuck did that guy end up with Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer and Drew Brees?

This option/flex player thing really fucked me up in the draft. I didn't realize we had that open spot, otherwise I would have been chasing QB's.

I didn't realize when the draft was until after it happened. Thus, in a league where QBs are super-important, I ended up with Rivers, Delhomme, Garcia, and Harrington.

Nobody understands the waiver period because Ryan keeps fucking changing it every day. And he's messing with the stat categories, too. THE LEAGUE HAS STARTED! LEAVE THE GODDAMN SETTINGS ALONE!

I dunno about you but I got two e-mails from ESPN to the e-mail I logged in with announcing the draft date and time and reminding me to pre-rank.

And I don't think Ryan's fucking with the order. I think It's automatically adjusting based on standings and who's made a claim. I just don't think you or I understand the mechanism.

Dunno what you mean about stat categories, I haven't noticed

The draft thing was my fault. But both of the last two days Ryan's done something with the waiver period (not the order). Doing so has eliminated my waiver claims that I've put in. And if you go to the front league page it says he's been doing something with times sacked as a stat category, and changing the waiver period.

Yeah, WTF? At some point between late last night and this morning I lost two points? I still won, but what would happen if it had been closer? I can't believe the ESPN system allows you to do that? If it was a money league, that could be a huge problem.

I think the real problem is that ESPN sucks. Yahoo is the industry standard.
