Yep, just a needle. I use one of my medium sized ones out of a crafter's needle kit (you know, the one with all the leather-stitching needles in it). I try to relax the sheath to get the little tiny knot through it into the core a little easier, the knot just helps the floss stay put a little longer.

I use Glide.. it's teflon, slippery as a politician at a congressional hearing. Inert, too, so no worries about it reacting with the nylon in the rope. I mean, hell... you put that stuff in your MOUTH!

I usually get about a year out of an appliction. I'm down to two threads sticking out on my current rope, it's about time to re-apply.
