I don't quite know how to break this to you all, but I do know that the rc.com community was a big part of his life, and he would want you all to know.
Today about 4 pm, Stymingersfink passed away due to a massive heart failure.
I'm sorry, I don't quite know what to say. It is unimaginable to think he has left so early, he was a force to be reckoned with at 35. He was a strong, powerful man, a very technically savvy climber, and fun to climb with and a great mentor. He will be greatly missed. There are many climbs here in the Wasatch that he continually free-soloed just for the simple joy of climbing. Please send your prayers and thoughts to his family,

I am so very sorry to hear this.
Unbelievable. It's just so hard to comprehend heart failure in someone so seemingly healthy and active -- what a shock to everyone, I'm sure.
I've enjoyed his contributions to the aid climbing discussions over the years and I was really looking forward to meeting him someday -- maybe even roping up for a few pitches. I'm saddened to know this won't be possible.
Thank you, Sty, for your contributions and commaradarie over the years. You will be genuinely missed.
My thoughts and prayer go out to his friends and family.

I've greatly enjoyed both serious discussion and casual banter with Sty during my time on this site. His passion for climbing was apparent and it was in those conversations that a self-effacing quality would peak through, betraying the humble and sincere core of a man whose witt was at turns, so dry and scathing.
I had hoped to rope up with him at IC over the Thanksgiving holiday, maybe even run one of his solo circuits with him, put a face with the name and all that. Climbing with Sty is an opportunity I truly regret having missed, as I'm sure he was a strong and inspired partner.
This is really tragic and sad news. Again, Geo you have all my best wishes and you really don't have to say anything. We understand no one here feels this loss more than you, so please keep us informed on how your doing but you dont owe us anything. Just take your time with things and if you want to talk, any of us here will be happy to listen. I know its a bit hollow coming from a man a continent away, via the internet, but I'm sorry for what you've lost, I really am.

Say this isn't so, Stinky gone forever, that really sucks. Massive heart failure whilst being a quick end is not something that I would have expected in someone so young. All I can say is wow, that was out of the blue. See ya Sty, go climb a big wall in the sky for me mate. Please feel free to pass this thread on to his family GG.

Sad news. I never had any conversations with Sty but I often enjoyed reading his posts and the banter. I'll miss that.

I cant believe it. He made me laugh, he made me cry. He made me cry-laughing. That is mind numbing.
No one can replace him and he will be sorely missed.

This all seems so surreal at the moment.
A terrible loss to our community, can't even imagine the sorrow his family and friends must be feeling. To them I send prayers and condolences.
Sty's post were spot on in guidance and other times loaded with his one of a kind personal humor. You could feel his zest for climbing and life in general through his words. You will be missed here.

I knew that if I got on here there would be many friends that had good words to say about Daryn.
Daryn was a good friend of mine while I lived in SLC, shortly after I moved to Grand Junction we kept in contact to climb, ski, and boat.
Daryn was one-of-a-kind. A great man that always looked forward to another sunrise, the good in people, the aura in the mountains, and never took BS too seriously.
I remember skiing cold smoke 4’ deep before sunrise with him in Mineral fork only to skin back up to make another run. Or climbing run-out slab and he could do with a great grin and never back down.
Our last adventure was a float down the CO, as he came out to get away from the heat in SLC. He instantly made numerous friends here in GJ from his good attitude and the truthful strong man he was. Our next adventure was going to be a float down the Grand in the Winter of 09. I know he looked forward to it as rafting was new adventure emerging in his life over the years.
He has many friends and you know who you are, as now he would want us to stay strong play hard and remember him for the ledged he is. For he would want his good friends to now go and climb something ridiculously crazy in the memory of him and his good humor. After the summit a toast of some good scotch or whiskey must be in that plan.
Daryn you will truly be missed by many, as every summit attained in the future is to give you a high five man.

thanks all, Sty is no doubt greatly amused at how much you appreciated his content, and how well you got his sense of humor. His incredible wit was certainly was one of his more highly exercised points of style, wasn't it? 
Surreal, and stunned, and out-of-the-leapin'-blue, are good words to describe this. I've been lying here thinking that if I jsut stay in bed, it will be some kind of dream, and he'll still be here. Getting up makes it seem all too real. So I got up and turned on the radio, and they were playing Cat Stevens' "Morning Has Broken". That did me in all over again.
Its a beautiful day, and some of us are meeting at his favorite breakfast spot. Then we'll go do what we gotta do.

I'm waiting for this to turn out to be some kind of sick joke but it's not. I doubt the people here would do something like that.
I didn't know Sty well enough to call him a friend, at least not in the way others called him a friend, but I wish I had. He came across as being a skilled and competent climber and on a climbing forum, it should go without saying that competence and knowledge are deeply respected and to that end, Sty was a widely respected member of this community.
It is no small thing to say to a stranger (and who was stranger than Sty?) you meet over the internet that you are willing to entrust your life to them by way of tying one end of a 10mm rope to yourselves and ascending hard rock and chossy stone so that you might stand at the summit of a mountain and knock on Heaven's door. Several have said such things about him and I will throw my voice in with theirs. Though I had never met Sty, I think we would have gotten along. To have lost that opportunity, that chance to be friends, is something many of us regret.
I won't pretend to know what happens after one's life ends, but if there is a Heaven I'm sure Sty's there drunk, concocting an adventure through unexplored lands that mortals cannot visit.
Sty, wherever you are, everyone misses you.

Heh. Yes, I'm one to speak, but he was always a bit strange in his humor. And he was also just as quick to be self-deprecating as laugh at the next person, so I knew there was a good soul in there. I'd thought of sharing a rope with him too now that I'm living closer to his neighborhood and I only regret not doing it now, even if that meant his death were more painful. Strange how you can feel loss over somebody whose presence was only words on a screen, yet I think we did know and appreciate his personality. RIP, Daryn.
