So I just came across an article that Todd SKinner wrote back in 1994. He states that "...it's bad form to make fun of a beginner. Everyone has a first day on the rock, and it's a sport in which you improve by probing your limits." So maybe we should go easy on the nOObs, huh?

Personally I don't dab my hand in it very often, I prefer to bash morons whilst making an ass of myself. I think I get the point across when I do it, though. (ie. I'm an ass, but even I can tell you're a moron).

There is nothing inherently wrong with being a n00b, of course, as we all were n00bs at one time or another. Still, as with other insects, some can be disruptively irritating and invasive. Those, naturally enough, need to be squashed. Curt

IMHO more people would post useful information and find partners on this site if the 1% of the users that actually do post were not such huge dick's. I spent this past year in Korea before moving to Japan and was fortunate enough to be a part of an on line community called koreaontherocks.com. Best community I have ever been with great information on anything from travel to gear and climbing knowledge. You see the thing about Korea on the rocks is, about 20 people sign on a day there are around 100 users and none of them makes fun of "noobs". They are always willing to go climbing and always willing to give info even if the question has already been asked. if you don't want to re-type something you already have then just don't re-post, it's that easy. Unless you are trying to make up for the fact that your cock is small and then STFU anyway. oh 1 more thing... I have only been climbing for about 4 years I have how ever climbed all over the world thanks to the nature of my job. I have climbed with 100's of people from most of the countries in the world were there is rock and they are some of the most amazing people in the world and would never treat people the way i see people getting treated on this website.

I am all for being nice to NOOBS. But let's face it some of them just ask for it. The way I see it, be nice and as helpful as you can be. BUT!!! If they are a dick to the old timers they should pay the price. We all had a first climb and needed help so I try to be as nice as I can. P.S. There IS a (search) on this site USE IT.

Gabe can downclimb 5.14d one-handed. Gabe will make you climb better just by looking at you. Gabe once visited Rifle but left after 30 minutes because the routes were too easy for him.

deltav wrote: Totally not the direction that I had intended. Oh well. Actually RC is very n00b friendly. It is just not very friendly to idiots. And for a good reason, stupidity can kill. Better to yell and get the attention than to let the person fall. I await the blissful day when I think I know something and I’m proud say what I think and I turn out to be wrong. Until then, I keep my mouth shut (on climbing stuff that is). RC is a great place for n00bs! Trolls also find this a great place – just ask Gabe.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I will take it one step further. Gabe is not the just the n00bs' god... Gabe is GOD. The world would be a more bitchin' place if we all worshiped him. It is time for all ye of faith to abandon your false gods and worship the one true god: Gabe Walker. So let it be written. So let it be done.

I've had Korea on the rocks before. I got it from a girl in Cabo. I didn't mind the swelling so much, but that damn painful itch... It's really not all that it's cracked up to be.
