make sure the course you take isn't simply indoor leading. For outdoor you need to learn the proper way to clean the anchors. Easiest way to approach this is to find some climbers at the local gym that know what they're doing. Beware: idk about other people but I will not just take random people i meet at the gym climbing without getting to know them first.
