I don't usually edit, but this img link is pathetic. I've got to find something better.

wow - this past week / 10 days have been really productive. I've painted about 10 paintings in total and updated another. Plus I built a new website that I think will go "live" sometime in the next month. I should be able to knock off another painting today and the collection of still life paintings done in one color will be done (i.e. - the collection will have six oil-on-paper paintings, each one is done with tones only in one color. there will be a yellow, orange, blue, green, red, and pink in total). Then I'll post up a painting of two flamenco dancers, and then another of me and my niece approaching the water. there are many projects in the works, too. Me thinks this will be a highly productive year.

And an artist friend and I are hoping to get into a gallery to exhibit in April. That would be great. The idea is to exhibit at a gallery and get the gallery to invite other galleries to attend. One hopes things go from there.

btw - if anyone wants to check out the new site and give a critique, then PM me. Looking for some feedback. The old site (current site) is hosted by Blogger and has a lot of limitations. The new site also has limitations, but seems to be better for what I want / could use. Not sure of the limitations of weebly sites, though, so if anyone has experience with them, please tell.

The idea is that once per week we'll meet, set up something to paint (still life, photo for a portrait, etc), and we'll both paint the same thing in the same sitting. He's more of an oil pastelist, and I do a little of that, too (though I need a lot of work with that style). I work mostly with oils, but the general idea is to each produce from the same item and then exhibit the paintings together. Not sure how it'll work, but it already has definitely produced very different results. I don't have his image yet, but here's what I did: He sat to the left and decided to with bright reds and oranges against blue and grey hues. So the colors and perspective will be different, for sure. Also, he's more detail-oriented and I'm more expressionist.

an absolute shit-ton of work, but the new site is about as done as I think I can get it for now. Relieved. Looks good. MUCH better than the old one. Here's hoping the SEO is better, too.

The whole thing has gone downhill since I last attended. Seriously. It's as bad a Burning Man has got. The whole feel of the event is not what it used to be.

Diving today. The highlight was the Octopus that gladly played model for us for several minutes. It was as curious about us as we were it. Saw many, many lobster, and generally had a good time. It was a pleasant 84 degrees on the beach and a cool 51 at depth. Can't complain. Racked up and ready for tomorrow. Getting up early to climb locally. Weather is going to be great.
