THese are slings Cracklover sent me. He pulled these fixed draws off a sport route and replaced them....for good reason. Anyway,... he wants to see what they will bust at and is encouraging people to have a guess at their break strength....so.... "Go"

i'll go 1 KN for the blue one and 16 KN for the Petzl (two tone). THe petzl is about 10-15 % cut. The blue one is 80-90 % cut. The weather exposure feels like 2 years max with minimal direct sun.

To clarify... Do I have these labeled right? Because if I have it right, the last image seems to show that B has a lot more material left that seems not to be visible in the other pix. Oh, and did you find the letter? I'm pretty sure my guess was in there. Thanks again! GO

You have them labelled correctly. Dont let the angle of the last shot fool you. There is about 10-15% material remaining.....it was just the angle of the shot that makes it look more. Have to go thru the pile of paperwork on my desk for your letter. Ill find it though.

caughtinside wrote: It's been over 3 weeks. Are you going to pull these things? Yeah.... I know. Stuck right now working seven days a week 12-15 hour days. Paid work comes first, then my sick dog, then busting things non work related. Going to bust the slings this weekend. But thanks for the kick in the butt.... i can always use an extra one of those (seriously) Cracklover,,...found your letter: The more worn one (OP sling) you said no more than a couple Kilonewtons. No guess for the Petzl in your letter.

Okay, for the Petzl I'll guess 15kN or less. Who knows, maybe much less - if it starts ripping on the side that's compromised... GO

Yes.... My apologies. But as i said my dog "Tugboat" and my work were priority. Since i buried Tuggy Friday, and the Film industry has finally slowed down locally... i can refocus on extracaricular activities. My apologies.

Not too late to fit this in, then. I don't think the little blue one will hold even a kN.

Thanks crack lover. I hate making excuses and I do apologize for everything falling to the wayside. Basically though my life went crazy in late August; the dog started to get sicker, my business took off and I started working 16 hour days, then finally the adoption company I hired found my birth parents and so I discovered a whole new family. But things have calmed down so I'll make it happen.

Hey, it's been another month. Take all the time you need, but if you're not going to pull them, would you mind mailing them back to me? They're a nice souvenir I was keeping around in the gear room as a reminder to check fixed gear. Not that I need 'em back, but, if you're not gonna pull 'em... GO

erisspirit wrote: Bummer... I was actually really curious as to what to results would be Look, it's hard to admit but it's about time we come to terms with the fact that we have been had. Tugboat obviously just wanted some cheap/free slings to replace his old quickdraws with.
