Why are there SIX different downturned shoes: Arrowhead, Teams, Dragon, Quantum, Blackwing, Hornet? What happened to the genius 5x? Jet7?

I dont mean to rant but I feel that they are over-saturating the lineup with lackluster shoes whilst scrapin the older better designs.

Jet 7 was by far my favorite shoe, now we have the too stiff Team and the Jet 7 with no toe hooking ability Blackwing..

BTW the quantum and hornet are just effin hideous..

Sportiva made a stupid move too by killing the Venom and bringing the worthless Cobras back.. Venoms were amazing amazing.. And then we are given the Speedsters?? Gimme a break, when I want my shoe edges rounded Ill buy a used shoe...

What do you guys think about the new lineups?

A lot of really stupid names that sound like a bunch of G.I. Joe characters.

Jet7s are still there...

Also, the Blackwing isn't like the Jet7, its a velcro version of the Dragon. All the shoes are quite different, just like not all flat shoes are the same, not all downturned shoes are the same.

Guess what sells? And for whatever it's worth, I figure that with how many big names are using the Team it can't be a bad shoe. They still have a lot of the good ones, like the Mocc and the Anasazi.

And by the way, I have a pair of the 5Xs, and they aren't really any better than the Moccs. Sure you can get them cheap on closeout, but brand new they aren't $40 better.

5.10 makes me laugh. They change they're shoe line up so quickly through the years I can't even keep up.

When I see that they're making a velcro version of the Dragon I get confused. The Dragons were a velcro version of the V10s, I still have my pair that I picked up 8 years ago. And then I laugh and laugh and I'm curious if the modern Dragons are even remotly the same as the old Dragons...or are they just recycling names? What were the Dragons before they were the Dragons?

5.10 loves to make shoes, then toss them, then bring them back, then change them, then rename them, then toss them....etc etc etc. And then everyone gets excited (or in the case of the OP, angry) by their new shoe lineup. In general except for the old Dragons and the old Saphires they don't seem to fit me, so let them to what they want....just don't get too attached to too many of the shoes they put out.

I just want new Jet7's and Venoms!! BTW eff the cobras/pythons they are garbage compared to the venom... dont get me started on the speedster..

I honestly think the Jet7 was five tens best shoe, dragons are too stiff and clunky (relatively).

Might just do the Blackwings since the Team is too stiff for my tastes

bitch bitch bitch. personally, i think the dragons are one of the best shoes available today, and the Blackwings toehook like a champ for me. The market isnt saturated, they all fill a different niche. laces, velcros, slippers, C4, HF, and every mix there in. I appreciate being able to choose from my favorite rubber, paired with my preferred closure. Stop griping, no one cares.

If by your logic I'm a douchebag for giving you my opinion, does that makes you one for throwing out yours? If you want to spark a thread with an opinion, I suggest picking a topic other than "boo hoo hoo these shoes don't toehook" Or at the very least reconsider assaults on someone's "character" and "class" when you don't seem able to actually spell out the word 'you' and endeavor to hurl such scathing insults as "asshat" Very creative, I'm sure that goes over huge at your community college.

Wow, sry for not using proper english: welcome to the internets. Trying to lower someone by demeaning CC ya you are cool, thanks for the insult but I graduated from CSUS with a BS in geology: something that requires CLASS and CHARACTER. Or I could have just used my time in university to roam the threads being a troll like u. Ill leave that to u, since u are so good at it.

Im sry if u had a bad day and had to get ur asshat fix but u could have easily been respectful and still conveyed ur opinion, an act that requires class and character.. Maybe next time...

Have a great day

Graduated Magna Cum Laude in Conservation Biology from one of the most prestigious environmental colleges in the country, hired, moved cross-country by and working at one of the largest consulting firms in the country *before* the graduation ceremony took place. Mr. hotshot over here demeaning community college like you're inherently a better person for going to ur school. And I didnt even goto CC but just saying that makes you an idiot. BTW CSUS has one of the better geology programs in the nation so don't even go there..

Im done with ur bullshit, if you wanna keep responding to display your lack of character then go ahead. BTW this is a thread about climbing shoe lineups not about your shitty childhood.

Have something meaningful and constructive to say about climbing shoes? And btw our dining hall sucked so there ya go u get +1

Perhaps you'll have some insight, albeit difficult to interpret, about my character based on that since you seem to be such an expert. Ebonics LOL...

BTW Biology isn't exactly the hardest degree to attain so I wouldn't boast about that.

Actually I'm working for StatOil in Texas in a couple months so thanks for your concern. Seriously though, trying to demean my credentials on the internet isn't the smartest thing to do.. If you are knowledgeable you would understand that it isn't the school but the person and the academic product at the end. I know plenty of idiots that went to UC Berkeley and Stanford.

But seriously though Rhythm what's your favorite shoe :P

You never heard me say there's no one out there with a better degree/job, but I do get to work in some pretty neat places. Plus it has the added bonus of not making me old and bitter. Ahem. Well, not yet anyways.

more than I can say for alot of folks in this poor economy. You know lots of people that get highered and relocated fresh out of college before graduation?

I do.

You seem really impressed with relocation before graduation. And working for a giant company. At least brag about something worth bragging about. I got a job. Kids these days.

congrats buddy. mom is proud I'm sure. impressed, no, proud, you bet your ass. I worked my balls off in a challenging program at a highly competitive school, and it paid off. why shouldn't a person be proud of that?

Good work. Now ram your job and education down someone else's throat. I'm sure there's no one out there with a better degree and a better job than you.

I don't know man, I ge to work in some pretty rad places. Plus it has the added bonus of not making me old and bitter. Ahem. Wel, not yet anyways.

Good for you. Be sure not to let the geologists you work with know you look down on their degree.

Went to Pipeworks gym in Sac for the shoe demo. Tried on Blackwings, Dragons, Teams, Mocassyms, Testarossas, and ended up buying the Dragons. The blackwings werent supportive enough and the Teams were a bitch to get on for the size i wanted. Putting the Teams on makes the Mocassym feel like a breeze to get on. The dragons were amazing and super comfortable for how tight i sized them.

Gotta love shoe demos!

It is a lot rarer than you think. Hardly any one I know, myself included, got a real job after graduation. This economy sucks for college grads.

holy hell, here i'm looking through a post trying to find good information about ever changing shoe lines that may become altered by a giant corporate takeover. Children, calm the hell down or just meet up and swing some fists over it. It's hard to believe anyone who gets so obviously worked up over such juvenile shit over the internet EVER GRADUATED ANY COLLEGE, OR HIGH SCHOOL FOR THAT MATTER, so please get over yourselves and stop crying to each other for all the world to see. Thanks in advance.
