There's a girl in the car in the parking lot, she says, "Man you should try and take a shot, can't you see my walls are crumbling down" She looks up at the building and says "Hey, I'm thinking of Jumping, I'm sick and tired of life" well everybody's tired or something, 'round here.. -Counting Crows. Thats the song that goes through my head whenever I get on airy leads. Course, I try to sketch my belay and say "I'mmm think of jumping!!" Oh the looks I get from ppl who haven't belayed me before. Another one is when I'm Onsighting. I climb up and clip the first bolt and religiously say "I hope that was the crux ;)"

I find that "Climbing Up the Walls" by Radiohead gets my mind pretty focused. It's kind of a scary song, so to speak.

Pretty much whatever song was on the radio when we parked the car. Or, if someone says a word and it reminds me of a song, or if I hear just about anything that reminds me of a song. There's always some sort of music running through my head.

"Here comes reality. Oops there goes gravity!" - "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. And after a body slam lead fall I return to the car, turn on the radio and hear Johnny Cash do a cover of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. How appropriate.

It ususally the last song I hear when I get out of the car. For some reason however I can never remember the whole song no matter what it is. So I always get one part stuck in my head.

Always something different. On my most recent epic (obviously I did survive) it was: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B000002LPP001003/0/002-0588271-7479234 [edit - clicking onto this link doesn't seem to work, so you have to copy and paste the URL into a new window to listen to the song] While you listen, imagine the sun has just set, the rain clouds are moving in, the protection is all lousy, you're still a full pitch from the topout, and the wind is whipping through your measly unprepared clothes. Isn't climbing fun! GO

I USUALLY don't have music in my head when I climb, although, lately the song "I'm bouncin' off the walls again" by SugarCult seems to pop in there every now and then. What I USUALLY have in my head when I'm trying to block out everything else and get motivated (especially on the Crux moves).....the entire first half of "Full Metal Jacket". Everything that Gunnery Sergeant Hartman says. I have it memorized and it keeps me motivated and focused. I have a mix song, it's Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" mixed with Gunnery Sergeant Hartman and Private Pyle that fills in for music. Hoorah! Semper Fi "God has a hard-on for Marines.....because we KILL.....everything we see. He plays His games, we play ours. To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps!" There's that really annoying commericial for a drug to aid in Overactive Bladder...it has a jingle "Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go" It just keeps going over and over in my head. Then I think about what it's advertising and find that I have to go to the bathroom  ...it's all about the madness in my head.

jumaringjeff - You do know what that song is about don't you? Anyhow, it is normally the song I last heard in the car as I step out or when some evil person comes along and says I just cannot get this tune out of my head and starts to sing annoying commerical or jingle or song and then you cannot get it out of your head... DAMN THESE PEOPLE... eg, I had the theme music for circus going around my head for a whole day of climbing... Oh well.... nevermind.....

Steve Kimock band all the way! As most of their songs that i've heard are 20 minute jams, its not hard to get the main theme of the song stuck in your head, but if it is, you wont be complaining. Look them up: http://www.kimock.com/ Also phish seems to get stuck in my head a lot.

I hear whatever was the last few songs on the radio. EXCEPT, you kow that part in the climb when you are totally exhausted, your muscles are shaking and the next move is the "monkey" power move? The kind where, if you listen to the muscles in your arms they are saying, yeah freakin right am I going to pull this! I force myself to start singing BLACK SABATH songs right then--> a lilttle Iron Man!. They tend to get my adrenalin going enough to get me through that move K

There's one that always pops in when I'm scared on a FA, hanging from a hook at Owens or drilling a 1/4" from stance - Weird Al's "Dare to be Stupid" - especially one little part - ... Bite off more than you can chew, What can you do? Dare to be stupid! Another part is perfect to help answer the ever-present question "What the f___ am I doing on this climb?": Settle down raise a family join the PTA Buy some sensible shoes and a Chevrolet Then party 'til you're broke and they drive you away It's OK, you can dare to be stupid!

This is an easy one, Anyone remember the Jerry Sienfield comedy Cd, "I'm telling you for the last time?" Here's the song: "don't die don't die don't die don't die, there's a rock there's a fish who cares don't die. I don't wanna die, just let me breathe and live, cause living is good and dying, not as good" Listen to cd, it's hilarious, the song will stick in your head forever, and it's such a funny song to sing while your hanging by an 11mm thread over jagged rock.

Usually whatever was playing last in the car. But at the gym, they play a mix of pop/rock CDs so I'll just sing along to them, if I even hear them. 8)

like many, usually the last song I hear before I get out of the car. Last week one of my climbing partners got stuck with "She F***ing Hates Me" and was singing it all the way up each wall. Made for an amusing day.
