Well for one I grew up in a small community, population 30,000 and the whole earth catalog brought up many different subject matters that I was otherwise ignorant of. Everything from alternative lifestyles to Buckminster Fuller.

In reply to: OK, now all of you made a great list of books, but could you explain why they changed your life??? especially this one Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance  The Bach books helped to crystallize a lot of what I already believed and thought, and even though it's not a book, Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay, "Self Reliance," has also been a huge influence on me. The Pirsig book has had similar impact. The book isn't all that much about Zen or about motorcycles; it's more about the search for Quality in our lives and the process by which we make our decisions and journey through ourselves into our own realization of the Self.
