Cheap Flights!!

I've been watching flight prices (with SideStep - it rocks!) for the last couple of weeks. The roundtrip from Austin has been $256+ the whole time. Today it was $196 (nonstop on delta with perfect flight times!).

So, naturally booked a ticket. Figured all prices might have dropped, and some of the people getting ready to spend $160 on gas to drive cross country might be able to get good deals on flights - not to mention people just looking for cheap flights

WHOA!!!

Southwest Airlines have a deal right now where companions fly free! I found a flight from Phoenix to SLC for $180 with a companion flying free (=$90 pp). Was going to drive, but now it’ll actually be cheaper for me to fly (not to mention I won’t feel like I’ve been run over by a semi when I get there)

I think I would like to go. But I have a dilemma

Anyway, I am planning a trip to J-tree and SoCal that weekend. I would be leaving Dallas on either the night of the 7th or the morning of the 8th. And it is a heck of a detour. But I think I could swing it. I'd have to see what my climbing partner/little brother thinks.

And I don't have to be back in Dallas until the 16th.

I was planning on some trad and sport climbs of the 5.easy to 5.9 variety.

So, if someone could hook me up with a map and/or directions to the area that would be cool. And is anyone going to be there after the 9th?

What a quandry.

Thanks in advance.

HEYA!

Just Curious... is some one going to come up with a comprehensive "flyer" style information letter with final decisions on gathering points, info on campgrounds and directions to resturants, houses, climbs, gear shops, etc?

I cant wait, tis going to be a blast!

I know Joshua Tree is going to be hot.. But "a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."

And I don't plan on spending the whole time there..

hangerlessbolt sent me a list of some good climbs to do while there(he's the "Bomb"), but I will also hit Tahquitz for some good multi-pitch routes.. Can't wait for that

Anyone wanna meet up there?

(had to fix some spelling)

I am creating a "Beta sheet" with diriving directions to the camp site, a tentative schedule for Thursday afternoon-night, directions to the pizzeria/pub where we are gathering Thursday night, campgound directions, and contact info of some Utah natives who can provide specific help for out-of-towners.

Okay, so it's decided. I'll be heading out to the SLC gathering as well..

And I think I'll sign up with the trad learner's group while I'm at it..

Ratstar: you may have a problem!!! Seeing as the internet is open to all, and Canada is one of the most wired nations on earth, your plans are known. You may well have some Canucks at the gathering. Plans to make.

Well, I'm still waiting for a job interview that will determine where I'll be this summer, but if I don't get the job, there will be one more uglyass unemployed Jackmormon trad climber for ya'll to make fun of while I french free 5.5s.

Hope to see you all, and rest assured that I will attempt to drag someone to the overhung sporty-caves of Logan Canyon only about an hour to the north!!!!

HAHAHAHA!

For those wanting to luxurizize thier climbing getaway or for you visiting honeymooners, I found out Snowbird has rooms starting at $89/night.

Any longboarders coming? bring your boards if you can, the skating at night in SLC is almost as sweet as the climbing in the day! I'll show some good hills to anyone who is interested.

This is going to be sick!
