In reply to: In reply to: Thanks guys, I'm kind of proud of that post. I'd be honored if any of the old guys from this site had something to add! Jgill, bvb, curt, elcapbuzz (well not quite old), brutusofwide, base104, Karlbaba.... and countless others. What do you guys think? Travis I think you shouldn't call them "old." -Jay My sentiments as well, Jay :)

Awesome to the max. I've been climbing off and on for awhile now, but just recently have I started to really get into it. Came to the beginners forum and found this great thread - stickied even. Good stuff, tenn_dawg.

Right on! I was first introduced to climbing via the gym several years ago but have just taken it up in earnest. Your words cut right to the heart of it all.

Words to live by; I'd like to hang this up and memorize it, a la the Boy Scout Oath. Thank you Travis, for one of the best posts I've read yet. My 2˘ for this $100 thread.

Travis, Thank you for the insight. Like i said to the guys when returning rented gear this past weekend at Nelson Rocks via ferrata "What a strange and wonderful world you have here". I cant wait to become immersed in it. Be safe, George

Travis, your post is very inspiring and since i happen to be a young climber and relatively new to the sport, it helps to point me in the right direction, not only for climbing but for life. Thanks again

In reply to: I read your story, and I like it Dingus! I especially like the part where he started laughing at you and you got angry. Every climber has those demons on their shoulders, and every climber fights those battles. In reply to: "You’re not alone my young friend.” “Your buddies over there are all getting drunk right now because at least half of them suffered through the same thoughts as you today. None of you will dare admit that you’re in over your head. You all go on posturing and preening and drinking the night away, all the while hoping no one will notice the smell of fear emanating from your pores." Now that's a bit good.
In reply to: I love it. Travis Me too.

there are words to live by. Not just in the would of climbing but all walks of life. I know the more you listen the more you learn. keep up the words of wisdom, because I and others are nothing but spunges.

tenn_dawg, Thanx very much i am from Edinburgh, Scotland and i came past this website as i have only started rock climbing and have become madly in love with it. I was trying to look for info on rock climbing and as u mentioned i was asking about gear etc but i didnt ask and respect other people as climbers. The best tip i think i can get. If ur ever in Scotland take a look down in Edinburgh and go to the local Alien Rock (thats Alien Rock 1 (you tell any taxi driver its near the old Harry Ramsdens and they'll know)) and the guyz there are great they'll let u know where to go and how things happen etc. Anyway cheers again. Chris
