OK, fine.. I'll get with the serious answer. I've thought about this for a while, and I've been waiting for my partner to get tape for his gear :) In a brief search, I found the following tape that is targeted at climbing gear AND surgical instruments, for all you climbing surgeons out there ;) http://www.identi-tape.com/geartape.html The tape has a unique 2-colored look to it. If you really want to be different, buy two colors and always put the same color toward the opening end of the biner (per modman). There, I'm out. Just polished off my first Schlitz and time for bed ;)

I just ordered some green striped identi-tape (that means the rest of you have to pick a different color!) :p One of my climbing partners is a climber/ER doctor... does that qualify?

All my gear is identifiable by brightly-colored, adhesive, vinyl labels that have my name, mailing address, and cell phone number printed on them. These are labels specifically made for climbing gear by a company in Scotland. Yes, the labels are expensive ($25 for 80 labels including shipping from Scotland) and took about 6 weeks to arrive but I think worth it overall. If I found a piece of climbing gear and it had someone's contact info on it, I'd mail it to the person who lost it. All my climbing friends have agreed that they would return gear if they knew where to send it. I think any climber wtih a conscience would do the same.

I use blue over black tape, and then I put the color that corresponds to the size of the piece (red for BD #1, yellow for #2, etc. etc.) But I am going to try nail polish and hopefully keep the same colors... On the other subject at hand, I'm too poor for Schlitz so I drink Camo or Colt 45 40oz... Yeehaw...
