The last time I went back packing...one luxury item was a nalgene with 600 ml Dewers 400water.

HELL'S BELLS.

Do people actually drink that foul stuff!!?!?!?

Next time you have an RC.com gathering I'm going to send a proper bottle of whisky in my place. It'll teach you more and you'll enjoy it better anyway!

Can you sugest a more fitting bottle of whiskey? I have had Johnny Walker red and black...and on one occasion(before I knew what good wiskey should taste like) Blue. They were nice, but too much money for me...well the black is moderate in price. I've also had Jamison...again...not worth the money to me. What should I look to try?

Traditional highland fighting whisky. No ice, no water, take it straight like a man and you'll be knocking seven bells out of the barkeep in no time.

that stuff breated some "fun" times in avimore a few years ago over new year. before the nest, or what ever the night club was, that was shut down.

jason, basically, in order to drink the good stuff, you have to have money.
johnnie walker is not good stuff.

jameson's I'll give you credit for, because I happen to be partial to it when I can't have my 50-80 dollars a bottle stuff.

The good thing is, you'll appreciate the good stuff more if you can drink the crap now.

I agree with everything you said there...such was the epiphany when I had my first Bass ale or Sam Adams after stealing budlights from family cookouts at age 12.

I believe I share a view with Chad. That being; buy the best you can responsibly afford. For me, at 22 with enough debt to have owned a jaguar, Dewars is as good as it gets. That and some (self gloating) kickass homebrew. I hope that some day, I can evolve financialy to the (gulp) $80 bottles. Untill then...let's drink together so that I may mouch...

Was it just me or did only 5 words of that make sense? All I heard was Charlie Brown's teacher for the rest.... Weird.

If only there'd been such a thing as Nalgene when I was a new-driver teen. I had to make do with a $15 four-finger bag of weed and a six-pack of Bud.

yes, thanks rob for the memories!!!! Now, i prefer the engraved flask my hubby got me................just got to get a bottle of the good stuff..............

morning all, can't keep up with the banter.......carry on without me!!!!

hehehe, I'm a mooch myself. I mooch the good stuff off my mom.

she effectively ruined me.

though she also taught me the importance of not letting any non-believers into the stash of good stuff. they add ice and water and ruin it.
therefore, always have a bottle of crap to give to ice and water lovers.

Morning?

There are non-drinkers?? Woah.

Tired this morning, couldn't sleep last night, nothing new.

Did you know that a male sex adict is called a satyromaniac? Makes sense, but I never knew that til last week.

Yup - after the Greek legend of the satyrs, who spent all their time chasing nymphs and rogering them senseless.

Nymphomania
Satyrism

GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn!!!! Mrs. Wide just called me, she had a doctor's appt. this AM for routine checkup on the baby. Baby's good, mom's good, but her OB-GYN announced he's retiring effective January 1, 2005 so he won't be able to deliver the baby in March. This doc is fantastic, and he delivered our first two. He said he's retiring because Massachusetts raise malpractice rates again (not just his, every doc's) and if he wants to keep practicing he needs to pay $100,000 in premiums. He's a private practice, no other docs to split this with and he can't swing it with rent and utilities etc etc etc

$100,000 freaking dollars for ONE YEAR!!!!!

Kim is pissed!!! You ladies probably know how hard it is to find a doc you like and Kim LOVES this guy. PLUS, technically, none of the other groups in the area are accepting new patients right now. So hopefully they will make exceptions considering the retirment.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!!

At least we have 4 months to get SOME kind of rapport with a new person, once we find one.

chad, I feel your and mrs. wide's pain.

I go to MD to see my doctor, because finding a new one is a lot like throwing myself in the fire.

good luck with it.
if MD wasn't so far from you, I'd offer to hook you up.

Mel, exactly, now imagine you're pregnant and have appointments every month and eventually every week. Plus, does your doc in MD have priviledges at the hospital nearest you or come actual delivery day will you be stuck with some guy you've never met with MAYBE your doc observing?

One of the biggest reasons Kim loved this guy was that he WAS solo. All the other Ob's are "groups" so depending on when you go into labor and who's covering the service for your "group" that day, you may not actually get YOUR doctor performing the delivery. Fortunately, ours will be a scheduled c-section so that will likely not be an issue. But still....
:? :?

Edit: Thanks Mel, and Maww.... Vent over.

So back to Humpday

Sucks about the doctor chad!
Getting a doctor here is like pulling teeth. Barely any accept new patients.
I have an ok one, but only go once a year because they'll only give you one year worth of pills, otherwise I wouldn't go at all.

That is THE most hilarious term. Whew! Have you been watching late-night British telly on PBS? The cop show with Rowan Atkinson? Jolly risqué, that . . . "All I ask is some consideration and a good rogering now and again!" The secret to relationships?

Now, about that Americano . . .

Perhaps you were being Satyrical?
