Promontory Rock is actually located about 60 miles north of Arcata, CA on HWY 101 or about 20 miles south of Crescent City, CA. Heading north on the 101, just after you pass over Wilson Creek Bridge you can park on the wide shoulder pullout on the left. Then cross the HWY and you'll see a small sign that says C.T. trail (coastal trail). Follow this down the river and follow it out to the beach. Head north up the beach and you cant' miss this spectacular wall. You could also park in the small day use area just south of the bridge and cross the creek (only a couple of feet deep) and head north up the beach. Either way it is a beautiful location.
