Troy Mahr and some local Forest Service staff are working on a proposal that will then be presented to the Fish and Wildlife Service sometime in mid/late January 06'.
This proposal is an effort to allow climbers to use Williamson and still preserve the natural habitat of the Mountain Yellow Legged Frog.
The Fish and Wildlife Service will make a determination as to whether or not climbers may use Williamson depending on many factors, primarily being said frogs ability to thrive in this protected area.
The climbing community can contribute to this cause by simply registering with troy's new non-profit organization "Friends Of Williamson Rock" here:

I got this response from the forest service. It was cc'd to these people, maybe they have more answers?

Dear Mr. Wasser

Williamson Rock is CLOSED for the time being (the closure is officially in

affect for one year, since Dec. 2005). In the mean time the Angeles

National Forest is working with the FoWR (Friends of Williamson Rock) on a

proposal for mitigations to eventually open the rock area for climbing

again. Hopefully, we can arrive at a solution that can allow the

recreational activities to continue while conserving the frog habitat.

If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to send me a note.
