Try Petzl 12mm, especially if you don't need prepainted. They seem to be fnished nicer as well. -Brian in SLC

In reply to: Unfortunately 12mm is .00000000000001mm shy of 1/2" 12mm = .472" or there abouts. I've placed 1/2" studs with the Fixe 12mm hangers. I have a bunch of the Petzl 12mm models...and am pretty sure they'd work as well. Big enough. I'll double check the petzl 12mm for ya. -Brian in SLC

Both Fixe and Petzl 12mm hangers fit powers brand 1/2" stud bolts. Raumer 12mm hangers are just slightly too small. However, the Petzl hangers are pretty small, so you'll have to ditch the washer (or get a smaller one), and even if you do that there won't be as much room for the biner through the bolt. It also increases the chances of the nose of the biner hanging up/jamming on the nut. So go with the Fixe if you're doing 1/2" stud bolts. You'll never ever remove those bolts, so please use stainless!

In reply to: You'll never ever remove those bolts, so please use stainless! I fully agree that stainless is the way to go, but whether or not the bolt can be removed is purely speculative.

No, not speculative - they're talking about wedge bolts (aka stud bolts), and you can't remove those bolts (except in really really bad rock).

From what manufacturer, what model exactly?? The OP didn't mention any of that. I cannot and will not say, "all wedge bolts can be pulled". I am just saying that some can, even in hard rock. It just takes patience and a big enough crowbar.

Checked both Hilti and Samson and they both work with the Petzl 12mm hanger. Yep, fit is a concern. The nut and washer will tend to be too big for the Petzl, and won't be optimum for some nut/washer combo's with regard to clipping a biner to the hanger. Another option would be to buy a lower profile nut to match the stainless steel on your stud. They do, however, work great in any combo of nut and washer for top anchors that have a rapide connected to chain or a rap ring, or the like (where you don't have to clip a biner to the hanger and climb past). I've found it very hard to get the Fixe 12mm especially in prepainted. That's a burly combo, 1/2 stud and a 12mm hanger... -Brian in SLC
