My wife and I are looking to move to the highlands to be closer to boulders/snowboarding. I know about the stretches south of Blowing Rock along 221 (circuit, blowing rock boulders, grandmother, etc...). However, many homes around the blowing rock area is a bit on the expensive side. Are there any other spots around the banner elk or beech mountain areas? I'm not looking for specific directions, I can find that out when I move. I'm just curious if I should even be looking in those areas. Thanks.
