As I suggested here, maybe photo submission process can be changed, such that it will display a warning
In reply to: WARNING: Your image is too large, our code will eat it OK, I do not care _________________ Cancel, I will resize and resubmit A note on what is not matching would be good too, such as "Image width is too large" or "filesize is larger than 48k". Something like this would be sooo much helpful. If it is a snapshot or if you do not care/bother you can go ahead and use the resizing code. For others, they will know what they need to do to avoid the evil-resizing code....

For whats its worth, every single operating system I've used tells you the file size of images both in the amount of storage it takes up and its pixel dimensions by at least hovering your cursor over the file name..
