Area Managers Needed

If you feel like becoming an Area Manager, please ask for it! There's a lot to do. Europe especially needs some.

By example, I'm not sure that Switzerland has an active AM anymore.
If you have noticed an unactive AM, wake him up, or ask ddt to get the job.

I might volunteer for Germany in the near future, but that absolutely depends on me being able to access the site from my office computer - which is not possible since the recent changes.
Gimme some time. Winter's still long and I'd really like to see Germany sorted out. It is a mess...

Are you nuts? Shocked There are at least 700 single rocks with thousands of routes on there... would be a thing for a lifetime. Besides there already is a [url=http://www.klettern.frankenjura.com/]huge database for Franken, just in German.

If you'd pay me a decent salary, I'd be in though Cool

Anyway, the proxy still won't let me to this site at work. Mad No chance.

Yes, it's on a voluntary basis.

Surprisingly, AMs from rccom1.0 still didn't answer the PMs to let us know if they still want to be AMs!!!

So, countries like Belgium, Czech Rep, ENGLAND, GERMANY, Greece, ITALY, The Netherlands, SPAIN, or SWITZERLAND are without an Area Manager!!!

Only France, Scotland, Slovenia and Yugoslavia have a Manager... Unsure

mmm i know a little bit about belgium, switzerland and italy - others here know much more about italy for example (taz, paolo...?) so i would probably not mind covering one of those three if there is none else more competent...is there a 'how to be an AM' or anything like that anywhere? who is the recruiter? is there a test to pass Crazy?

AM job is :

Organising a state by Regions / Areas / Sections / Routes.
Almost all the European countries are already organised. But things need to be fixe sometimes. The Regions might not be relevant. Or the Areas have been placed in the wrong Region. Or there's duplicate Areas, so one need to be deleted and its Routes moved to the one left if not already present...

Validating the new routes submitted by checking if they are in the appropriate Section and Area. Which is delicate when you don't know yourself the area. Then you have to trust the submitter...

Validating the new Regions, Areas, Sections submitted. Usually easier, if you know a bit of geography. If a famous summit of the Dolomites is submitted in Tuscany, you should notice the mistake.

Well, this is what an AM has to do.
ddt is waiting one more week for previous AM to say if they are still active or not. If not, you will know it. So you have a few more days to think about the job. Which is a bit time consuming for large countries.

well, its not so bad. i have put up pretty much all the EDB info for slovenia and it didnt really take that much time. an hour here, an hour there and youre done.

as for new obligations (aproving routes and whatnot), it shouldnt be a problem unless you ignore it.

btw, thomas, what about getting some kind of general description page for europe to answer all those "where when should i" questions, and maybe getting a clickable europe map in there too for useability?
