Anyone have any suggestions for a desent bouldering guide for the bishop area? I'd also appreciate any warnings on books you think I should avoid. Thanks

The wolverine guide is pretty good. It wasn't quite up to my expectations, I hoped more of the obscure areas would be in there. But for a guide to the Buttermilk boulders and Happies, its the best there is.

+1 the Wolverine guide is the best one on the market now. If you are staying in the areas right around Bishop (Happy's, Sad's, Bmilks, and Druids) you will be very happy with the guide.

For Bishop bouldering, I like the Dr. Topo FREE guide. I bought the Owens Guide and I really think that was worth the money.

The Wolverine guide is excellent, instead of saying it didn't live up to your expectations, you should just say THANK YOU for the time and effort. Oh, we are still waiting your guidebook to the area.

i heard mick and his crew climbed pretty much everything to provide an excellent and accurate guide to the main areas in and around bishop. if you see them out there say thanks. and if interested in other 'obscure' sectors just go for a hike in any direction...there is rock in them thar' hills... matt.

The Wolverine guide is hands down the best out there. The color pictures are awesome. Only complaint is early copies did not have an index of problems, but they've made a download available on their website for free.

The one nice thing about the wolverine guide is the updated grades as well. The drtopo guide has a lot of outdated information as far as the grades go.

I honestly can't believe we're comparing the shotty kindergarten drawings in the Dr. Topo guide to the color photos of in the Wolverine guide. No brainer if you ask me.

Agreed. Some people just don't like getting off their wallets I guess.
