I'm looking for some areas that might offer a number of vertical to (preferably) overhanging sport routes in the 5.10 to 5.12 range within day trip distance of Fort Collins. Any help?

For some reason I thought you lived in Boulder.

For bolt clipping day trips in the Ft. Collins area, I can only think of a smattering of routes.

On greyrocks, a few hundred yards North-East of the main slab, is a very steep wall with several bolted lines. That's all I know, I only walked past it and did not climb.

The Monastery up Hwy 36 toward Estes has routes up to 5.14. I have not climbed there, I'm under the impression that it's vertical and crimpy.

The poudre has a lot of sport routes but I've heard of a lot of access issues recently.

Of course there is Boulder and Golden, but driving 70 miles to sport climb is unacceptable, I think you know that though.

Try the monastery, it's probably the most developed crag.

What about Clear Creek Canyon?

Couldn't get into school in Boulder. No big loss there though.

Been to the Monastery once, kids don't like the approach but yeah, it does seem mostly crimpy vertical.

We like the routes at the Palace out on the Poudre but the river's too high now and I don't know of any other areas with other than 1 or 2 routes.

Searching...searching....

Like Angry said it's a long drive though, we have been there a couple of times.

My daughter got spoiled on the limestone and basalt climbs down in New Mexico.
