Petzl didn't make ice tools 12 years ago. The bought Charlet Moser in 2004 and gradually morphed the brand to Petzl. The tool you're thinking about is probably CMs old kids tool called the P'tit Loup. It wasn't a good tool. It had so little weight it was almost impossible to get a stick. Get something about 35cm long with a real head and it will be useful as a swinging tool when you need it. I think Grivel makes a good one. Mal
