Yesterday morning our ISP decided to do a necessary expansion of its offices and move some of the servers to another building. The problem is they never told us. They unplugged our server, moved it, and then hooked it back up again. When they turned it on, it didn't work. They never told us this fact, and I made several calls yesterday and got nowhere. Finally at 1:30 AM last night, they made some fixes and we were up and running again. This morning we fixed what they had done last night and things are back to normal finally. I am still waiting for an explanation back from them today. I've sent several angry emails and hope to remedy the situation in the future. In an effort to continue to provide FREE content and services at RC.com, we have all made an effort to minimize and/or eliminate all costs. I guess this is the result of "cheap" service we buy to keep costs low. We will reevaluate things going forward. Finally, most emails would most likely have been bounced back to the sender or lost in space. I'm still tring to find mine. Trevor

while we all in a deep depression, we still are gratiful for your efforts trevor. cheap or not. if we have the server go down once a month, thats much better than paying for rc.com. randy

Thank you trevor for letting us know. Its really no big deal at all that it was down, it just sucks that your ISP is being a dick about it. That is a joke that they did not tell you first before they moved it, and did not tell you that it did not work after they plugged it in. Unbelievable.

It makes me realize just how much time I spend surfing this site. I can't tell you how many times I click on my link to the site and came up empty. "Uh, ok. Now what..." I really need to get a life during the week. Or maybe a real job. Thanks for the update! Ed

i would caution that you use some diplomacy in dealing with them... it seems like they offer a rather good balance of costs and services... we don't want to really piss them off and force us to move to another (more expensive) server... but yeah, thanks a lot for telling us what is going on. like everyone else said, no big deal compared with the sevices you offer for free here. thanks, keep up the good work Trevor.

I agree - no biggie.. if the site is down here and there - I think we can survive... If anything, have a message pop-up "the site is down because you should be out climbing, now climb on!"

I'm glad you all are so supportive. I too would like to keep as much of this up free to the public. Having inexpensive services like this allow us to do it. Thanks for the nod.

It's not a big deal, Trevor. I think you do an excellent job with a flagship quality climbing site. 8)
