Whats a good diameter of rope for using as absail tat? I've been recommended to carry 5m of 6mm rope. Is this thick enough or will a thicker and strong diameter be better? Cheers, Daniel

Abseil tat........ Is that a tatoo of a person repelling? Seriously though, what exactly are you asking?

Tat is brit-slang for a sling. Not the Yank shortening of "tatoo".

Aye! 6mm is fine for tat. However, make sure you take a knife as well. Bear in mind that 5m of tat will probably only suffice to make 2 abseils so if you are doing a long route with an unknown decent, you will probably need more.

I also carry a couple of tied double-length slings that I won't mind leaving behind... these are especially good in situations where cord might not be ideal, like when rapping off a rock horn (cord can roll easily).
