I was wondering if there is any climbing at Kankakee state park if anyone has been there before. I heard there are some boulders around, and since it is a lot closer to me since I live chicagoish then Fyrne Clyfe, Jackson Falls, etc. I would like to go climb there. I will probably go check it out soon anyway. I need to break in my new Boreal Zens, great edgers! Thanks.

Never been there. Last I heard, though, I think they don't allow climbing, but maybe bouldering. Not sure what heights are there anyway. Go here and click the email link to ask them permission directly: http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/PARKS/R2/KANKAKEE.HTM

I remember there being some cliffs there along the river but they were pretty chossy. It is worthwhile to investigate though. You may find something that I overlooked.

i have been there. there is some rock there but not very good. a few isolated boulder problems if you are desperate. some are just outside the park. it is probably not legal also.

Well with the amount gyms cost around here and lack of rock a < 45 minute drive to some, I mean any boulders puts a smile on my face. Anyone know laws about climbing, ie. if it is illegal whats the worst they do write you a ticket?
