welcome ! my 2 deaf friends and i decided that we will host deaf climbers gathering in red river gorge on june 16-20, 2004. we dont know how many deaf rock climbers are there in world. we would love to meet more deaf climbers. hearing or anyone are more than welcome to the deaf climbers gathering. remember: we are deaf and we only use the signs to communicate, but some of us can talk if any hearing will be with us. we can teach ya the basic signs. we can learn each other how to communicate with the climbers and we can educate anyone how to communicate with other while we climb on. please pass the word to your friend who happens to be deaf rock climber. more details will be coming up. for any question, please PM me. thanks. happy climbing.

This sounds great. I am not deaf but my brother in law is. My wife is also a interpreter for the schools here in Ohio. I will have to put that weekend on my schedule. Please keep me posted on the details. if you could send me email or something with the details I would appreciate that.

Jerk? Me? Just keeping your post at the top you know. You didn't lose your sense of humor along with your hearing did you? That'd be a real tragedy. Especially since most of what one hears is drivel. I met a hot climber from Baltimore. She coudn't hear. Somehow I found that sexy. We passed notes. If I run into her I'll let her know about your pow-wow. The misunderstood? UnaBonger

Even though I have been rc member for almost a year, this is my very first post! I'm sure Eric (deafclimber) will be thrilled! Anyway, I will be working with Eric to plan this gathering. We will have more details and a web link within next couple months - hopefully by Nov. Please feel free to PM me anytime. I'm looking forward to meet you all! :D

Very cool Deafclimber! I will be there and tell my other friends about this Deaf gathering. So, you're on for June 2004! In the meantime: Rocktober Fest will be held at the Red River Gorge (KY) on the following dates: Oct 11 & Oct 12 2003. That's just couple of months away. It's going to be huge fun & hope all of you can make it. For more info: www.thered.org

We climbed with some deaf climbers back in June of 2003 at Military Wall. I was there with my son and husband. A car drove up at the parking lot and asked where then nearest climbing was? And we wrote back follow us to Military Wall . . . just wondering, Deb

everyone I am very pleased that all of you guys are interesting to attend RRG on June 2004. We are looking forward to meet new people and we will have fun. All of hearing and deaf people are more than welcome. We can learn each other. If anyone are interesting to learn how to communicate with deaf people or learn how to use ASL ( american sign language). I m sure that we are willing to teach you. I like to have some warm each other and respect each other even we totally respect mother nature :) Let s challeage with mother nature and we are against great routes problems.

can you tell me where red gorge is. Id love to be apart of this. An experience that one shouldn't miss. A chance to look at a sport i love from a different view. And I think that part of becoming an adult is learning while comments can be funny they are not always needed
