Just wanted to find out if there are any Tulsa people into climbing and if so where do you go. Also if you would like a beginner to tag along.

I live in Tulsa. I would be more than happy to show you around. I am usually at chandler or surounding areas climbing so just look me up if you are looking for someone to climb with.

Hi there. Chandler Park has the most concentrated bouldering in your area. The rock is slick and takes a while to master, but the quantity of problems abound. You should contact "okieterry". He lives in Norman, but he is one of the original hardmen of our State and he knows chandler like nobody else.

Hello everyone, I am planning a climbing trip down to Oklahoma this Spring Break (I live in St. Louis). I chose Oklahoma because of relative closeness to Missouri, warm weather, and dryer than most states, during mid march. Whichita Mountains and Baldy Peak look like excellent places to climb. I was wondering if this sounds like a good plan, and if I can keep busy climbing for around a week in Oklahoma (I climb 5.8 and below lead, maybe 5.11 top rope). I do like slabs, so I won' mind an abundance of it. If this is a bad plan, alternative plans and locations would be helpful. Thanks for the comments and advice. steve

You'll find plenty to keep you busy for a week in the Wichitas alone. Thow in Quartz (Baldy), and you're well covered. You'll need Chuck Lohn's Oklahoma Climber's Guide and a reasonable rack -- even if there are bolts, they'll likely be sportily spaced. Well worth the trip. :D

The next nearest place for you might be Lake Lincoln in Arkansas. Also try Shepherd Springs. Check out the Arkansas section at Rockclimbing.com. Hope this helps.

well, if lower chandler is what i think yoru talking about, then yeah. the main entrance of chandler, instead of goin in it stay on teh main road. drive about oh 2-3 miles and on the left will be a trail heading up teh hill. there are steps up the embackment. when u get up there lok around, there is a couple sport routes, awesome toproping spots. and a few good trad. climbes. gear wise, duno. im just a toproper rigiht now. God blesd

I'm glad I found this thread. Chandler has up to 25' cliffs. My mother lives between Owasso and Claremore in a place called Keetonville. There are some virgin cliffs there and not just overhangs, but a roof! I'm guessing this place gets up to 40'. the only problem is that it is difficult to access due to a 55 degree scramble up to the top of a hill to climb. Anyone who wants to go and climb something new can name it. Just send me an e-mail or IM, 'cause I'll need to come along. It is on private property, and I'll keep you out of trouble. I also don't want the word to be too widespread out of respect for the landowner.

it's time to come clean. I lost my drivers licence to a DUI when i lived in Florida where the tallest point is Miami's landfill. I have a very nice 17-foot home wall because I can't get out to climb that often unless I go to my mother's private land or to an island on Lake Oologah across from the marina where my dad keeps his sailboat. I suggest a symbiotic relationship with anyone willing. Drag me around on some sunny says, and you've got a rainy-day hangout. I have an overhang and have plans for a roof at some point
