I would HIGHLY recommend "How To Climb... Big Walls" (a part of the How to Climb series), by John Long and John Middendorf. Its a great basic aid manual, written by some of the best aid climbers out there. John Long is a great writer too. You can probably get it at www.amazon.com for less that $15.

Get your hands on Chongo's mammoth manual. The drawings of his fantasies alone are worth it.
