I have tomorrow off from qwork and am looking for a partner to put a few routes up out at Seneca. I would drive out and camp tonight, then climb all day Friday, and drive home Friday night. I'm looking to climb anything between Seneca 5.5-5.7.

I'm leaving Pittsburgh at seven am tomorrow and driving to Seneca for the weekend. Hope to be on the rock by noon Friday. Saturday and Sunday I'm helping out (leading and seconding) some students on their first multipitch. Friday I'll have two of the students I'm friendly with me to get some climbing in before the "official" weekend climb. I don't know what grades they'll be comfortable with, they can both climb 5.5-5.7 on toprope, but I'm not sure how they'll handle the exposure of Seneca. Hopefully well - since I'd like to get on the sharp end of some Seneca 5.7s myself (I'm a new trad leader). Anyway, if you're still in need of a partner one of the seconds might be game to team up with you so we can move faster - I'll have to run it past him if you're interested. This of course assumes you're comfortable with a virgin second :-) - Chris

Word to the wise, if you lead 5.7 everywhere else i'd start off at least a grade lower at seneca, (can we say old school sandbags!!!!) I reccomend Ecstacy if your feeling froggy, if not ecstacy jr. then walk up and do banana, the hop on gunshot notch to the south summit, its only 5.4 but exposed exposed exposed! theres also the green wall which is fun, an a delightful corner that goes allllll the way up the main face i think its 5.5 -5.6 can't remember the name.

Thanks - I'm well aware of the sandbagged nature of most of the climbs here. All my leading thus far (and a good deal of my climbing) has been at Seneca. I've already lead most of the 5.4-5.5 classics (there aren't too many classic 5.6s) so I'm somewhat nervously considering the jump to some easy 5.7s. Actually, I think Greenwall will probably be my first, as you suggested. I like your climb suggestions though, I was thinking of starting on Skyline and Gunsite direct to see how the people I'm climbing with handle the exposure, then possibly ramping it up a bit. Thanks, - Chris

Kudos, to you man, Seneca is always a fun place to go. Last time i went, we got snowed on! Never fear! nothing like old ladies route in 2 inches of snow with hiking boots on. Have fun and be safe, drink some beer for me.

Thais and delightful are not two words I would use in the same sentence.
