Please tell me this is a joke, or for research, or to look at, or anything other than for climbing. If you get a helmet, get a new one! A helmet can be outwardly undamaged but still unable to protect your head. If you're unsure for any reason, you won't wear it. Helmets, like harnesses and ropes, shouldn't be bought used. Wait for good deals, but don't go second hand.

It's not rocket science. They're made from simple plastic and webbing, foam padding of some sort. Alumimum specifically can have hairline cracks from a fall that can undermine the strength of the piece. Steel doesn't have this problem. Plastic doesn't have this problem. If it isn't visibly cracked it's OK. If all you guys are so paranoid about safety why aren't you climbing with motorcycle helmets which are stronger and full face? Oh I forgot, not only must all get be NEW it must be "for climbing" as well. Get a used helmet, get a bike helmet they will both work. Off_Route

In reply to: Anyone got a helmet that they are looking to get rid of? Yup. Where are you? You might not want to pay enough to make it worth my time to ship it, else you'd probably buy new.

I've got a Petzl Ecrin I don't use anymore. Scratched, and I'd have to remove some stickers, but it's yours for twenty bucks, dude.
