Does any one have, or has any one used the Black Diamond Blizzard harness?? I have a basic Rock Empire that I have been using up untill now. It sucks on hanging belays ( the Rock Empire ) due to the lack of padding, and it kills my back after a short time. So...any beta on the BD?? I want something comfy with extra tail on the waist to put over layers for ice climbing.

KMAN, I used to think that the BD Blizzard was tits on a ritz. After hanging in an alpine bod for years, it was. Definitely a good harness with the drop your drawers option. It's a good trad and ice harness. HOWEVER, I now use a misty mountain "Quantum", it truly is the nicest harness I have ever used, in all repects. Another comparable harness is the Yates "astroman". My partner uses it, and I would have purchased one, till I found the quantum. [ This Message was edited by: rickoldskool on 2002-05-08 00:16 ]

BD Blizzard is a decent harness. It's plenty comfy, but the gear loops are kind of small in my opnion. If you like racking your gear on your harnass you might consider a different one, the Blizzard tends to get mighty full mighty quick. If you are considering doing any alpine climbing, however, the Blizzard is a good bet because of its extendable leg loops.

Hi KMan, I have a Blizzard that I use for ice and alpine climbing. It's excellent in those situations. It definitely isn't as cushy as other harness when you're wearing less clothing. For rock, I have another harness that is way cushy. The Misty Mtn Sonic. Nice wide back, etc. I figure if you climb a lot, two harnesses is definitely not overkill. Hope this helps you out!
