I have been climbing for about a year. I know what a cam is, but i was wondering. What the difference between a normal cam, and a Alien was??

An Alien is just a brand of cam... it is actually a CCH Alien... Colorado Custom Hardware Alien. Many people use these on their rack for smaller placements because the design of the cam seems to cause less "walking" then many others, that is why they are so popular.

i had the same question a few months ago, they are mostly just smaller cams and excel at small placements. i really don't know all that much about them but this link should help.
