It costs almost NZ$60 and it took a week longer to arrive than expected but it's finally here: The 2004 nedition of South Island Rock. Notable inclusions this year are Wanaka, Lovers Leap near Dunedin and Transmitter Crag near Christchurch. Absent is the Castle Hill boulder guide. The next guide out is " Rock Delux", due very soon. Gary.

Overall it's a better guide by including Wanaka and other new crags. I'd hate to think what it would cost with Castle Hill bouldering included. That could easily be 20+ pages. Ivan has a guide out pretty soon called "Rock Delux" hopeuflly it will have a boulder guide. Hopfully not v6 and up :) Gary.

Hi Matteo, Yes, it has an even bigger section on the Darrans as well as The Chasm crag in the Cleddau Valley. I haven't heard of "New Ignimbrite climbs" ,where did you see it? Cheers, Gary.

With all the current mess of selected Guides for the South Island esp Christchurch it is really annoying when you have a crag in one edition of S.I Rock and not in the next - having to dig back to two previous copies, Port Hills Climbs and now Rock de Luxe (out today). Even though both these two new versions contain Wanaka they only contain limited amount of the climbs there - for the best coverage get the local guidebook locally !!
