The closures also depend on whether or not they see any falcons nesting. If they don't, then they will lift the closures. The best thing to do is call the backcountry office and they will have a listing of specific routes closed. I don't think they have closed Prodigal Sun and other routes on the north face of Angels, at least in the last few years.

Yeah, actually they do. Last year they closed Angel's Landing for the first time in 13 years due to falcon nesting. But last year it didn't close until late April -- it hosed me out of an attempt at Prodigal, too. I understand why they do it, but I am a selfish bastard. I want to climb some routes over there and it's the only formation to climb when it heats up. Sorry to see they're closing it even earlier this year. I haven't checked out the notice you're refering to, but last year it only affected part of Angel's Landing. Granted, it was a BIG part and for all intents and purposes it was closed for climbing. There's a chance this year they are nesting in an area that will allow for doing Prodigal, but not likely. Ed

Hey, I just talk to someone at Zion National park and they told me that Prodigal sun would not be closing. Only the North east Buttress of angels landing will be closed. I will be there on Wednesday. Later- Wes

it's not actually the northeast buttress that's closed...it's the entire North Face of Angel's Landing. It's marked on the topo on the Zion website
