Let's Buy a Crag! A rare opportunity in the Icicle Please read the following flyer from the Washington Climbers Coalition: LET’S BUY A CRAG! SAM HILL AREA, LEAVENWORTH Right now, private land with some popular Icicle Creek Canyon (Leavenworth) crags is at risk of development and access restrictions. These crags include Sam Hill, Ski Tracks Crack, The Underhill, Trundle Dome, Whoopsie Pillar, and the classic Fridge Boulder. Over the past year, the Trust for Public Land (TPL), a national nonprofit organization, has been working to buy the 40 acres with these crags. If it’s successful, TPL will turn the land over to the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. Climbing access will be preserved. We need your help! TPL is still $16,000 short of buying the land. The Washington Climbers Coalition is working to raise at least $8,500 toward the purchase. If just 350 climbers contribute $25 apiece by April 28, we can reach our goal. That’s less than many climbers spend on gas and food for a day of climbing! Please send your check for $25, more than $25, or whatever you can afford to: The Trust for Public Land Attn: Rebecca Lavigne - Sam Hill Project 1011 Western Ave., Suite 605 Seattle, WA 98104 Please make your check out to “TPL—Sam Hill project.” Or, go to www.washingtonclimbers.org for a form to pledge by credit card. You can DO something to preserve access to a crag! More information is available at www.washingtonclimbers.org and http://www.tpl.org/tier3_cd.cfm?content_it...6&folder_id=262
