Hey, midwest climbers!

Is there anything climable in late April within a reasonable distance from West Lafayette, IN? I will be there 04/28-05/01, is anyone interested to go climbing?

Regards,
Anna.

Hi there, the closest climbing to WL is about 2-2 1/2 hours south near Bloomington. Its called the Unlikely Wall (outside) its basically the only outdoor climbing we have, its okay, but not great. I don't know exact directions if you want to go there, but if you do, I can find out for you. Let me know.

Why would you ever leave California for Indiana? =)

But hey, if don't mind driving a bit further, you really should go to the Red River Gorge. It's about 5 hrs south east of West Lafayette. I make the drive quite regularly from South Bend (which is about an hour and a half north of where you'll be) and I don't mind it too much. The Red is pretty amazing; there's a great online guidebook plus Miguel's is a sweet place to camp out if you like good pizza.

Since you aren't going to be around long you probably won't be looking to go on a long drive, but I'll probably be down at the Red on those days if you are looking for a climbing partner!

Good luck figuring out your plans, and I apologize in advance for Indiana. It's sleeting here currently :x

Good point indeed! I did not know that the climbing prospects there are so bleak... I better change my plans, and be back home for the weekend, and just go to Joshua Tree... Pity, I like to climb new places while traveling, but 5 h for a 2 days weekend is a bit too much... Anyway, thanks for all the beta and replies, I appreciate it very much!

Here I am, at last, and now see why climbing opprtunities are not as abundant as in Califronia...

Hey Powers, where else in IN can you climb outside? I can't think of any place else. I'd rather go to the Red cuz its the best we have around here. Thanks
