When travelling one must try the local fare. Well, in the Andes the traditional Inca fare consists of Guinea Pig. A couple of weeks ago in Peru I had the pleasure of eating a Guinea Pig. It wasn't bad, a little too much salt and a bit greasy, but altogether eatable. The presentation was the killer though. They cut off the head and stuck it in the middle of the plate looking up at you with its mouth wide open. They quartered the body and put the hind legs next to the head as though they were going to grab your hand if you got too close. Next to pig, venison and turkey hearts (tradition when hunting) Guinea Pig is probably the strangest food i've had. Whats the strangest food you have tried?

Whole baby octopus at a Vietnamese restaurant. They were served on a bed of shredded lettuce, 8 octopi arranged around the circumference of the plate like they were playing Ring Around the Rosie. A little rubbery tasting, but not bad.

Baby food. How do they eat that stuff. And don't even get me started on the formula. That stuff is the most rank smelling concoction I've ever encountered.

Ate this yesterday. http://photos6.flickr.com/11958316_e61a70e13c.jpg It was amazing. What looks like a roast, on the lower right side, is basically a loaf made from the lamb's sweet breads. A day later, and I'm still full. And yeah, those are its teeth and its eyes that you see.
