The brand is Omega Pacific, Smileys :D was the name they gave the pro... :D And they aren't "almost' identical to BD Stoppers, they are identical in size/shape... Jerry

Smileys are mdae by Advanced Base Camp. Omega Pacific makes "Scallop nuts".

Smileys are mdae by Advanced Base Camp. Omega Pacific makes "Scallop nuts". Smileys are no longer being manufactured. When they were they were made by Omega. They replaced them with the Scalloped Nuts. ABC makes Huevos, not Smileys; both of which are identical to each other and to BD Stoppers... :D

Oh, right you are about ABC making the Huevos. The gear page on this site has it wrong. http://www.rockclimbing.com/gear/product.php?p=610 Smiley's are still for sale some places, like Acmeclimbing. I agree that if you want to get the BD "stoppers" then choosing the cheapest between "Stoppers" "huevos" and "smileys" is the best bet, because they are all the same thing.

in fact, smileys were not made by OP, but used to be their own corperation, doing their manufacturing in Korea. OP aquired them, and revamped their product line. I have a few smileys icescrews which are nearly identical (save the speed crank design and anadization) to the new OP speed screws. they have a smileyface on the hanger.

Nope, they actually have smileys on them. I heart my smileys. I need to get another set while they still exist.

Hardy har har har . . . it's not exactly a great savings for used nuts. ACME sells them for $65 new. See what you made me do? Now I had to go and bag on the dude's selling price.

Early in my ice climbing career, I could only afford Smiley (R) ice screws. One of the nicest features was a hanger that could open a bottle with ease. And yes, Virginia, they were their own brand. As stated, made in Korea, same specs as BD (more or less), thank you GATT.

Ouch, ouch... $40 for 13 pieces = ~40% off. That isn't a fair price, eh Mac? The price you quote is a clearance price, the full retail is closer to $100/set. I should have known better than to go up against such a skilled negotiator as yourself. So tell me, bottom-feeder, how much do I have to pay you to take them off my hands...? Jerry

Some of them are used but in very good condition, and some are brand spanking new. The prices are good, and firm. TTOLT... :D

Bottom-feeder's about right. I wait for deals that give me 50% off or more when it involves used gear. I told everyone I didn't want to bag on ya. Lo siento.

Are these still available? I'd be interested in the stoppers if they are. How much for shipping to Salt Lake City? Email me if you like at fowweezer@yahoo.com
