Hi, just wondering what your funniest climbing moments are. Mine is....... On day I was climbing a 5.12d at The Asylum. I was getting really pumped and was next to a bolt. I reached down, and instead of grabbing a draw, I grabbed my chalk bag :!: I didn't realize it, but then I was like 'Oh no!'. My parents and friends starting laughing, and once I put a REAL draw up, I burst out laughing too. :P Happy Sending! Sierra 8^)

I had just finished a climb as was pulling the rope off of the rappel. I was looking up waiting for the right moment to pull the rope a little harder threw the rap ancor, when i saw something white shimer in the light come hurling down towards me. I tilted my head down (thinking i knocked a small rock loose) when it struck me in the ear with a splat. I feel my ear and its all wet and nasty, I look back up and here a pigon is flying happy little circles around the top of the climb. Dirty little bugger! Theres my 2 bits ;0)

Posted this story before but here goes again: Was on a bouldering trip in Fountainbleau - weather was poor so we started on the beers early and then decided on a bit of tree climbing. Climbed this little fella and then did a 'tarzan-like' grab of another tree which bent over nicely and lowered me to the ground.8^) 1 hour and many beers later I repeated the feat, only climbed another 6 feet higher instead, grabbed a branch (not the same one) which was rotten and snapped . Beautiful horizontal 10-12 foot fall onto my back and side . Totally winded afterwards and enable to fully extend my right elbow for a year! In hindsight very funny, especially as some of the guys present were students I teach at University, not sure whether it's helped or hindered my reputation

I was campusing this .13b roof and when I finally came around the lip, I had to dyno for a mono pocket. After locking off my pinky finger, I realize that I had strayed off to the next route by accident which was a .14a. And to make a ever bigger ass of myself, I look down to find out that I had mistakenly put on just my left shoe AND forgot to tie in. Imagine my embarrasment. After down climbing, me and my friend Storm had a good laugh. Fun times.

 You know you shouldn't let him talk you into doing things like that. Why does his approval matter so much to you?

In reply to: blah, blah, blah, On day I was climbing a 5.12d at The A*****. I was getting really pumped... blah, blah, blah, Wait just one minute. You were climbing at the A*****, got pumped on 12d, and then bragged about it??? Were there any other routes there you could even get on?? Seems like you were having a bit o' trouble on one of the warmup climbs there :). Was the rest of the canyon getting a little too boring for your partners and they dragged you up the river? Oh yeah, next time just forget to write the name of the crag. The less traffic it gets the better. RJ

I heard about a guy who was being belayed up a dicey 5.11 with a gri gri. Just as he got to the crux his belayer said “hey dude you’re the hand.”

While rapping down after setting a TR at my local crag I was attacked by an owl. It went right for my neck, scared the crap out of me in the process, eliciting a long string of curse words. Once back at the car I had a look and I had this great set of talon marks across my back, deep enough to get some blood. That was the fastest rappel I've ever done though, desperate the get the hell out of there before it came back (if it chose to).

We were on the Prow in Yosemite. There was a hubby/ wife team next to us on the Re-Animator. The whole way up the chic is yelling and cursing the guy out. The guy was a Saint, just climbed away. Meanwhile our ears were melting by the profanity coming out on this lady’s mouth. The worst part was that they were so stout, they kept up with us on the stiffer route, the whole way up. The dude finishes a pitch and gets ready to haul the pig. The dude yells down, “now be careful with the shit bag (they were using a hefty bag), this is a nasty haul. The chic cuts the pig loose and sure enough it slams into the wall. We all looked out as we heard the thump against the wall. We looked down to see if the shit bag exploded. Sigh of relieve as there was no brown and yellow rain to report. He called out, “good job down there, but where the shit bag, I don’t see it dangling”. She yelled up, “No worries, I figured it would be safer on top.” We looked over in disbelief. By the time he got it up, they had one juicy pig!!! It didn’t faze him a bit, just yelled down, “well maybe next time we should shit straight into the haul bag. All three of us bust a gut laughing. What else can you do in a situation like that? The good thing to come out of the situation was that there was no more profanity and yelling from her the rest of the way up; not a peep…

In reply to: nice, nice By the wat how do u vote? I'm not entirely sure what you mean. If you are asking me to vote on this thread. My vote goes to the Gray Tradster. I am assuming he is the guy in the red shirt; he's a sexy beast!!! If you are asking all time, I'd have to say, Reardon soloing Bird of Fire nude, with his little chalk bag a flapp'n, amongst other things (remind me never to borrow his chalk bag!!!) If you mean political affiliation, I'm split down the middle; hating Republican and Democrats equally. Well maybe not quite right down the middle. BUSH!?!?!??!!?? Need I say more?
