I wanted to set up a line in my backyard.. near the ground just to practise a little. And you see i have a tree thats it.... one tree and nothing around it... the fence that surrounds my backyard is to weak to support my weight. Is there anything i could shove into the gorund to use as something to anchor to.

How 'bout you dig a hole and sink a 4x4, cement it in, (doesn't have to be very tall.) There ya go. I think it would be relatively inexpensive and safe!
Good Luck!

If you don't wanna put in anything as permanent as the idea stated above, then you could build an A-frame.

I've set this rig up a hundred times, it works great!

Do as stated above, build an A-Frame. You can then actually (in almost every case) use that crappy fence of yours as an anchor, here's how: Use (2) of the fence posts, maybe even (3) if your nervous. Girth hitch or otherwise tie-off the posts with webbing AT THE BASE of the post, and I mean right at the ground!!! Equalize these two (or 3) peices of webbing to a single point. Anchor your sliackline/A-Frame off the single point. Anchor the other end of your slackline to that lone tree. Presto! You can find pics of A-Frame in use on slackline.com.

Best of luck!

Just go to a park. But make sure they allow stuff like that before you go. I've gotten kicked out of a couple paRKS, BUT FINALLY FOUND ONE THAT ALLOWS IT. SCORE!

This is a no brainer. Dont build or cement crap into the ground, just rig one end of the line up to the tree, and clip the other end to your car. Drive forward slowly(!) till it pulls tight. Works better than any other pulley/ratcheting system ive ever used. :D
