I think there was an article about this in one of the magazines a few years back where someone (maybe Sherman) had tried to climb every state and said Florida was the hardest state to find anything worth climbing in. Maybe it was Louisiana. It was some swamp state. If the traverse described earlier in this thread is the best Florida has to offer then I think Kansas has better climbing than Florida hands down. Check this link for Rock City. http://www.washburn.edu/cas/art/cyoho/archive/KStravel/rockcity/

This thread is entertaining, from the beer snobs down to the worn out debate of whether bouldering is actually rock climbing, keep it coming!! I'm the one who took this photo....and yes this is about the only real climbing in Nebraska except for some chosstastic boulders in Toadstool Park. The boulder in the above pic was found 1/4 mile from where it currently resides although it was probably dragged by a glacier from Minnesota so perhaps it doesn't count as Nebraska rock, who knows. That said, bouldering this boulder is all about 2 move problems from sit-starts and scrunchy traverses, all of it absolutely ridiculous. If you want to say you've climbed in Nebraska go to Toadstool Park in northwest Nebraska and enjoy your 5 minutes of absurdity there. d.

I spoke to Sherman - Louisiana was his crux. 4 trips netted him nothing but hangovers. The fifth trip he found a piece of rock that looks just like El Cap, but only 10' high and not too geologically old. He flashed the nose. We recently found a 100 year old photo of a 5' boulder in Louisiana so I guess that means 2 stones. This state is a climber's Hell and it's far better to visit for the food, music and lifestyle than climbing. Quite frankly, why the hell would anyone ever climb in more than 10-15 states? What a collosal waste of time.

Hey thanks man, 3 points. 1) Good beer is nothing to do with snobbery ..... its LIFE man!!!!! 2) Thanks for disclosing a climbing location in your state, this may save my long-term ambition to climb in every state. 3) How do you mean this boulder has moved 1/4 mile? Seems to me if you can tell me how you moved it I could simply drive this boulder through every state stopping only to crank a few problems and hey-presto I'm your "Climbed in every state dude". Is it on wheels or something? Maybe U-Haul are missing a business opportunity here? Cheers Steve

Indian Lager is ok .... with indian food of course. In Cambridge we drank Greene King IPA in the Indian restaurant along Hills Road but that was a very good Indian! Cheers Steve ps this does not apply to chinese food! Chinese beer is worse than anything in the US, possibly the world. However Taiwan beer is very good and although it looks like lager is not - its just a very pale ale.

That committee have got their priorities wrong IMHO. Thank god they saw sense and awarded the 2012 to a country with decent beer. Cheers Steve

It seems to me that the most obvious question that needs to be answered in this thread is "Has anyone had a beer brewed in all 50 states?". Where is the crux? Utah? Nebraska? Jeremy

Jeremy Now THAT is a worthy hijack attempt :!: I, for one, have not had beer brewed in every state, but it would be a kinda cool goal to have. It wouldn't surprise me if someone like Micheal Jackson has.... (the beer guy, not the child moles....I mean, singer  ) Here's a good page to get started with: http://www.beercollections.com/BCBREWERY.htm

Cheers Steve The boulder was transported 1/4 mile to its current location by the City Parks people, a glacier dragged it to Nebraska thousands of years ago. It's quartzite so I'm guessing it weighs 5 to 10 tons, that won't be cheap to haul!!! I can assure you Nebraska wouldn't be the crux state for beer drinking. There's 3 micros here or near Lincoln and at least 2 in Omaha. Anyone know of a brewery in Utah? d.
