To develope strength, flexibility and balance - does yoga work? And I mean in addition to climbing as much as possible, not in place of climbing.

Look around this site, I've seen probably 3-4 topics concerning Yoga. Your answer in short is...YES! It is suposed to help alot with breathing and flexability.

Definitely!

I have been doing yoga for flexibility for a while now and it has given me the ability to do things that were difficult before more easily. It is amazing how quickly some of the changes happen. My balance became much better, and confidence followed.

Yoga did nothing for me. Those who do it swear by it so I'm not in the majority, but in my opinion it was worthless.

Don't forget about ballet and Pilates, both of which also work on strength and flexibility. If yoga ain't doing it for you, consider one of these two. (For example, I can't do yoga because a lot of it kills my bad knee, but I can do ballet as long as I avoid the big jumps and Pilates works well all-around.)

It all depends on your mindset......Instead of doing Yoga, try listening to Yoda! "USE THE FORCE!"
