Shoes and Carmex

After a summer morning workout at the gym here in the flatlands, I typically take my shoes into the office so they don't get subjected to the heat inside my car while I'm at work. We have a lot of harmless office hijinks at my work. In this vein, one of my co-workers decided to stuff carmex into my climbing shoes. When I put them on this weekend, my foot wouldn't stay in one place, sliding around every time I tried to stick a toehold and creating momentum which made it difficult to keep my shoe in place. I've got a sinking feeling that the shoes are ruined, now that the carmex has taken hold inside them, leaching back into the footbed anytime the shoes warm up. Before I pitch them :( , anyone have any thoughts on how I might salvage them?

Yes. Shove them far up your coworker's ass and then punch him in the stomach as hard as you can. That should do the trick.

get 'em really nice and warm (mysuggested method would be shoving them up your co-workers' ass) so that the carmex comes out then wipe all of the exces out w/ a paper towel or some such ingenious cleaning device and repeat until no more carmex comes out.

I'd throw them in the washing machine then let them air dry.

You should have considered the consequences of starting the "harmless" office hi jinx but you did not. So the best suggestion is to enjoy the minty fresh smell of Carmex for your next few climbs and stop being a drama queen. If you mess with the bull you'll get the horns.

PS - I'm checking the lug nuts on my car each night when I leave the office just in case this thing escalates

I HAD SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPEN TO ME WITH MY NOW EX-FRIEND. ANOTHER FRIEND OF MINE SUGGESTED A NATURAL CLEANSER WATERED DOWN(SIMPLE GREEN OR A CITRIC CLEANSER) I FOUND A NATURAL CITRIC CLEANSER THAT WORKED WELL AND DIDN'T RUIN THE LEATHER. THEN I WASHED THEM WITH SOAP AND WATER.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Exactly what I said when I checked out my shoe this morning after using a citric cleaner and running the affected shoe through the wash-- still greasy right on the ball of the foot and the big toe. Of course, there was a groan, too, when the perp of the mess shows his mug in my office this morning and tells me that he specially registered on rc.com (Chessmore) to gig me some more. Ignore him.
Thanks for the advice on cleanup, all. Ordered my new Megas this morning from Sierra Trading and hope they show up soon!

Sneak some methylene blue into his drink and then when he visits the restroom laugh at the screams. It doesn't help your shoes but at least you'll feel better.
