I recall an awful lot about most of the climbs I've done - this is somewhat due to a photographic memory, but mostly I think it is because I don't get out very often. So, when I do get on the rock, I savor every second, and reminisce for years.

I haven't a very good memeory of many of the climbs I've been on until I started leading. Now there are parts of most of them that I do recall, but it's more of the emotions I was feeling while on the climb instead of actual details of the rock or gear placements.... However - the other day I led p. 2 of Bitchy Virgin at the Gunks. My first lead where I knew it would be run out before I cast off. Ho-lee shit. Interestingly, I remember quite a lot of that pitch. But mostly what I recall is details of searching those shallow horizontals. And searching, and searching....for placements that just weren't there.
