The only comment I have to make is that this "certification" is largely unrecognized out east. It seems to be an Alberta / British Columbia thing. - Seyil

i know this will depend on a gym-to-gym basis and mines a small one, but *whats your pay like? *average class size *how often to teach a class (per month say) *how well does it travel (but that was answered with a "BC/alberta thing") *is it worth doing just instructing (no belaying/management type stuff) *is level 2 worth getting in asap? *are you guys fulltime/partime this is only parttime for me (i still work fulltime 40 hour weeks as a welder)

How often depends on how many there are avalible for you to do. Level 2, is worth it if you wish to do lead courses, but talk to Terry, the more interest you show in this, the better.

Top rope courses are given every evening. Up to six students per instructor. Sometimes given in both english and french at the same time. Average course was 2 hours, sometimes longer for those special folks who "just don't get it". No money to make at teaching exclusively t.r. courses. Lead courses 2 students, two 2.5 hr sessions. By appointment, not given with great regularity. All staff part-time, no one makes more than 10.50$/hr on the books. No gym instructors that I know of in quebec. Could be an asset, at some gyms, but I don't think that you would replace current staff simply because of qualification. Cheers, and go for it. I am working towards my assistant rock guide. sam
