As noted in another topic, looks like folks are headed down to the Creek next weekend. I'm seriously thinking about going, just want to be sure that I will have someone to climb with, as well as the requisite amount of gear, the ability to lead anything there, etc. I'd be leaving SLC sometime friday (depends on whether I skip seminar or not), Have 1 set of cams w/ doubles in a few fingers - wide fingers, haven't lead anything on gear harder than easy 7.

(you beat me to it tarzan...) myself and another or two will be there on saturday morning (22nd), and you are welcome to climb with us. we should have more than enough gear to sew up anything there, it looks like... Anyone else going ? Who's down ? Where's a good spot to meet ?

A friend and I will probably be there from Thursday through the following Monday. Would love to hook up for a few routes. Have rack and ropes, will travel. Can anyone recommend a great place to camp?

I already posted to the other thread about crack crags but I will be there from Friday evening through Tuesday and would definately like to hook up. I am borrowing a whole boat load of cams to bring so should be setup there. It has been awhile since I was there and can't quite remember where I camped before. If anyone is coming down Friday night maybe we can decide on a place to camp otherwise meeting Sat. morning would work as well.

ok - we need someone who knows the area to pick a place to meet. I'm thinking right by supercrack and donelly, but thats just half-addled guessing based on the routes section here as I have never been to the creek... saturday might be easiest....party saturday night for sure ! Bring guitars, drums, beverages....

My understanding is that there is camping by the Bridger Jacks as well as the "Dust Bowl". I'm headed down to REI tonight, so I'll take a look at the guidebook, maybe talk to the guy at IME, he knows the Creek pretty well, as far as I can tell. I'm pretty sure at this point that I will head down on friday, hopefully get some biking in. Beverages, guitars, etc. are definitely in order!

These two posts have some info on camping there. Looks like major options are Bridger Jacks and the "Dust Bowl". I imagine the dust bowl might not be so dusty, with the rain forecast for the beginning of next week.

I'm looking for a ride from Summit county (1st exit on I 70 west of Eisenhower Tunnel) to Indian Creek. I left my van out there, with two ropes and lots of cams. I'm excited about lots of crack climbing. I'm happy to pay gas and could leave Thursday Oct. 20.

See http://www.climbingmoab.com/rock/db/indian_creek/ "If you are from Salt Lake, Denver, Conifer or enjoy the company of good dirt bags, you will likely camp at the Bridger Jack area. Residents of Telluride and Boulder tend to reside at the Dust Bowl, I mean Super Bowl. Residents of the Eastern US, those with kiddies, and people who aren't familiar with the Creek will likely camp right off the main road, just past Newspaper Rock. The best place to get beer near Indian Creek is Colorado. Don't forget to bring vast amounts of water with you. You can grab a shower and supplies further down the road near the entrance to Canyonlands at the shop and private campground (mo money), in Moab (the hostel or the Black Spider), or Monticello (I don't know if one can get showers here). One more thing - if you have to go to the potty, then bury your waste and burn your paper." I've camped only at the Bridger Jack area (imagine that - I'm from Boulder) and thought it was great. Wish I could join you - but I can't lead in IC yet, nor do I have the gear needed!

Bridger Jack sounds good. Hey Sibylle - we might be able to give you a lift, leaving on Thursday. We were thinking about maybe doing a route in Unaweep on the way out. I'll know by tomorrow morning.

In reply to: bridger jack first choice, dust my bowl second... Same here. Will hopefully know tonight exactly what my plans are, as far as when I'm leaving, etc. Assuming I don't hook up with anybody Friday Night/Saturday Morning, I'll probably head over to the supercrack area to peddle my belaying services in exchange for topropes.

Im going to be out there with some friends this weekend as well. I am not sure where we will camp, but I will probably see you guys on the rock. Look for the tall long haired ugly guy, or just listen for the group yelling "your gonna die" at the climber.

i'll be the long haired freak with the beard falling up something moderate - the chin is mostly white for some reason (age ?) at this point... alternatively, look for a silver 1990 subaru wagon with stickers on the back and a stuffed penguin in the front window, riding shotgun...i shouldn't be too far from there. -tom

Sounds like we are well-stocked on long-haired freaks. :D I'll be the guy in the black VW wagon. I look like Bruce Willis only with a dead eye, facial tic, and ".38 Special 4Ever" tattooed around my neck. We're going to climb N Six Shooter on Friday but should be around Sat, Sun, and Monday.

my hair is the longest it's been since i cut it a year ago (3" of curly mess still can't compete with 18+" of dreadlock...) - i'll be the short, fat guy falling off of everything. If that's too generic, look for a gold ranger with a big grateful dead sticker in the back of the topper. (I might be spending friday afternoon trying to get some road miles in on my bike, up and down through the canyon, so that might be me too) I can't wait - my body, however, is saying, "You've been staying up too late. I think I'm going to get sick." I'm currently on hold about a replacement.
